Throughout the early and middles stages DAAR RASHID (USA) raced wide without cover. Passing the 400 metres BRAVO RAGAZZO (IRE) was momentarily held up when racing in restricted room. GULF OF ALASKA (GB) lay inwards in the straight and near the 100 metres was accidently hit over the nose by the whip of Apprentice Jockey S Al Mazrooei (SHARK IN THE SEA [GB]).

Stewards inquired into the reason for Jockey G Braem (MERJAAN [GB]) being unable to fulfill his engagement due to being overweight. As there had been a miscommunication as to what Jockey G Braem’s minimum riding weight was, no action was taken. SHIHAB (IRE) commenced awkwardly. LAKE HAWK (IRE) and MOODHILL (GB) were both slow into stride. Approaching the 900 metres TERTIARY (USA) commenced to over race. Approaching the 1000 metres LAKE HAWK (IRE) which was shifting out when racing ungenerously had to steady away from the heels of VIGOR (IRE). Throughout the event MERJAAN (GB) raced wide without cover. On straightening, SHIHAB (IRE) when racing tight to the inside of OUZINKIE (IRE), rolled outwards contacting the hindquarter of VIGOR (IRE). Shortly after, VIGOR (IRE) shifted inwards inconveniencing SHIHAB (IRE). In this incident, Jockey T O’Shea stopped riding and straightened his mount.

Mr M Al Muhairi, the trainer of INNOCUOUS (GB), was fined AED 250 under the provisions of ERA Rule 28(iii) for the use of the ERA colours. DISCOVERER (IRE) stumbled badly on jumping. INNOCUOUS (GB) threw his head on jumping, become unbalanced and lost ground. Throughout the event INNOCUOUS (GB) raced wide without cover and had a tendency to lay inwards in the straight. A Nicholls, the jockey of ROCKER (GB), was issued with two separate reprimands under the provisions of ERA Instruction 8(ii)(c)(i), for hitting his mount forward off the shoulder on one occasion near the 200 metres and under ERA Instruction 8(ii)(c)(viii), for extending his arm above shoulder height when using the whip in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination of MIZWAAJ (IRE) and DESERT OF DREAMS (GB) revealed no significant abnormalities.

The start of the race was delayed when BUSKER (USA) had to be re-plated on the right fore. BUSKER (USA) was examined by the veterinary officer on arriving at the barrier passed suitable to race. CANADIAN (IRE) commenced awkwardly throwing its head and shifted in, impeding ALNASHMY (FR) and JAWHAR (IRE). KAISS (USA) commenced awkwardly. KAHRUMAN (USA) was slow to begin. Approaching the 1400 metres ANTINORI (IRE) commenced to race ungenerously getting its head up. REDEMPTOR (GB) raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages. Leaving the 600 metres CANADIAN (IRE) commenced to lay outwards and on straightening raced wide. A post-race veterinary examination of CANADIAN (IRE) revealed the gelding to be lame in the right-hind leg. Mr M Ramadan, the trainer of CANADIAN (IRE), was notified that prior to the gelding being entered to race again he must produce a veterinary certificate of fitness for CANADIAN (IRE).

INTERPRET (USA) proved difficult to load. Mr M Al Muhairi, the trainer of INTERPRET (USA), was notified that prior to the horse being entered to race again it must complete one satisfactory stalls test. Throughout the early and middle stages INTERPRET (USA) raced wide without cover. Leaving the 300 metres UKRAINIAN (IRE) when held up, angled outwards to obtain a clear run. R Ffrench, the jockey of UKRANIAN (IRE), was issued with a warning under the provisions of ERA Instruction 8(ii)(c)(vi) for using the whip on his mount with excessive frequency. When questioned regarding the performance of MIDNIGHT MOON (GB), T O’Shea the gelding’s jockey explained that MIDNIGHT MOON (GB) commenced to give ground from the 600 metres and did not appear comfortable in its action over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination of MIDNIGHT MOON (GB) revealed the gelding to be lame in the left-foreleg. Mr A bin Huzaim, the trainer of MIDNIGHT MOON (GB), was notified that prior to the gelding being entered to race again he must produce a veterinary certificate of fitness for MIDNIGHT MOON (GB).

Behind the barriers MUTAYASER (GB) underwent a veterinary examination. It was reported that MUTAYASER (GB) had blood present in its mouth, however, was suitable to race. After being placed in its barrier stalls, EARTH TOUR (GB) got down, wedging itself under the front gates and eventually broke free. A veterinary examination of EARTH TOUR (GB) revealed the gelding to be unsuitable to race and therefore was withdrawn under the provisions of ERA Rule 60(iv) at 9.26pm. REPRESENTATION (USA), GRIZZLE (GB), DINNER JACKET (IRE) and MUTAYASER (GB) were all slow to begin.
