Stewards' Reports for Mazrat Al Ruwayah Prep Sponsored By Expo 2020
Acting on a veterinary report from the ERA veterinary officer, who stated that THAKIF (FR) was sore in the neck region, Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the horse at 6.05pm under the provisions of ERA Rule 60(iv). Whilst on the way to the barrier DUZAR (FR) baulked dislodging Jockey M Chaves, who quickly remounted and proceeded to the barriers. DUZAR (FR) was slow to begin. TAKAAMUL (GB) was fractious in the barrier prior to the start and commenced awkwardly. NAJM ALEMARAT (FR) stumbled on jumping. BIGG N RICH (US) over-raced in the early and middle stages. Near the 800 metres DUZAR (FR) had to be steadied away from the heels of NAJM ALEMARAT (FR). AL WAQQAD (AE) raced wide without cover throughout. When questioned W Smith, the rider of TM SUPER BIRD (US), explained that the mare had travelled well to the 600 metres but then failed to respond and did not accelerate. A post-race veterinary examination of TM SUPER BIRD (US) revealed no significant abnormalities. M Chaves, the Jockey of DUZAR (FR), was issued with three separate reprimanded for breaching the following provisions; ERA Instruction 8(ii)(c)(i) for hitting his mount in front of the saddle whilst the whip was held in a forehand manner, ERA Instruction 8(ii)(c)(vi) for hitting his mount with excessive frequency and ERA Instruction 8(ii)(c)(vii) for continuing to hit his mount without giving it a chance to respond.
