SHAYEL ALDHABI (AE) was slow into stride. MERZAL (FR) and BIGG N RICH (US) raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages. In the middle stages THAKIF (FR) raced ungenerously getting its head up. Near the 1400 metres, LAAMMA (FR) which was over racing steadied from heels. When questioned R Mullen, the rider of LAAMMA (FR), explained that the colt was racing keenly at this stage and he was attempting to settle further back in the field. AF LAFEH (AE) and WYCKED (US) were both held up approaching the turn into the straight. Approaching the 100 metres AF LAFEH (AE) had to be restrained to avoid the heels of SHAYEL ALDHABI (AE), which shifted in. T O’Shea, the jockey of SHAYEL ALDHABI (AE), acknowledged a breach of ERA Rule 69(i) for careless riding, in that approaching the 100 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of AF LAFEH (AE), resulting in that horse having to be restrained and loose ground. Jockey T O’Shea had his license to ride in races suspended for three (3) race-meetings (MEYDAN 2nd January 2014, ABU DHABI 5th January 2014 & MEYDAN 9th January 2013). Stewards determined that T O’Shea’s suspension shall begin following his two day suspension (ABU DHABI 22 December 2013, JEBEL ALI 27 December 2013) incurred at Jebel Ali on the 13th January 2013. A post-race veterinary examination of QUITE A SHOW (US) revealed the horse to have sustained a laceration to the left-hind leg.
