MUSADDAS (GB) was slow to begin. On jumping BLACK SNOWFLAKE (USA) was tightened for room between DESERT WINGS (IRE) and SCOTLAND FOREVER (IRE) which was taken in by JAMHOORI (GB). SCOTLAND FOREVER (IRE) over-raced in the middle stages. DESERT WINGS (IRE) raced ungenerously in the early stages getting its head up. BLACK SNOWFLAKE (USA) raced wide without cover throughout. Passing the 300 metres MUSADDAS (GB) shifted ground inconveniencing COLOUR GUARD (GB). When questioned regarding the performance of DESERT WINGS (IRE), Jockey M Barzalona explained that the gelding had become agitated in the parade ring and “sweated up” which was out of character. DESERT WINGS (IRE) had subsequently raced ungenerously throughout and in the early stages of the race over-raced getting its head up. In his opinion the gelding had been affected by its pre-race behaviour. A post-race veterinary examination of DESERT WINGS (IRE) failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

BLUE TIGER’S EYE (IRE) commenced awkwardly. WATHEEQ (USA) and HOLD THE LINE (IRE) raced wide throughout. Mr A bin Harmash, the trainer of DUCAB (IRE), was questioned regarding the apparent improved performance of the gelding. Trainer Mr A bin Harmash explained at its previous run at Abu Dhabi which was the gelding’s first start in the UAE, DUCAB (IRE) had competed for the lead and then subsequently tired in a fast run race. Today, he had instructed the gelding’s rider to settle DUCAB (IRE) back in the field and ride more patiently. In his opinion, this and natural improvement of the gelding had accounted for the improved performance. A post-race veterinary examination of FEHAYDI (GB) revealed the gelding to have blood in its mount. A post-race veterinary examination of HOLD THE LINE (IRE) failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
