Acting on a report from the Starter, who stated that INTERPRET (USA) was unable to be loaded, Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the horse at 6:46 pm. Mr M Al Muhairi (INTERPRET (USA)) was notified that prior to the horse being entered to race again it must complete two satisfactory stalls test. MANCHESTER (FR) and START RIGHT (GB) both proved extremely difficult to load into the barrier stalls. Mr N Petersen (MANCHESTER (FR)) was notified that prior to the gelding being entered to race again it must complete one satisfactory stalls test. Mr S Seemar (START RIGHT (GB)) was notified that prior to the gelding being entered to race again it must complete one satisfactory stalls test. On jumping away BUSKER (USA) commenced awkwardly. CHAPTER SEVEN (GB), MANCHESTER (FR), LAYALI AL ANDULAS (GB) and START RIGHT (GB) were all slow to begin. Shortly after the start WINTERLUDE (IRE) steadied when SPECIFIC GRAVITY (FR) shifted outwards. RED DUBAWI (IRE) over-raced in the early and middle stages. MANCHESTER (FR) raced wide without cover in the early stages. THA’IR (IRE) raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages. AUDITOR (USA) raced wide without cover throughout. Passing the winning post the first time MANCHESTER (FR) steadied. Approaching the 800 metres START RIGHT (GB) steadied when close to the heels of WINTERLUDE (IRE). Rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight, WINTERLUDE (IRE) was held up for clear run. On straightening LAYALI AL ANDALUS (GB) was held up and was taken outwards to obtain clear running. Over the concluding stages ENERGIA DAVOS (BRZ) and SANSHAAWES (SAF) lay inwards.

MICKDAAM (IRE) and STARBOARD (GB) were both slow to begin. GALE FORCE TEN (GB), VERCINGETORIX (SAF) and CAPTAIN JOY (IRE) all over-raced in the early and middle stages. AL WAAB (IRE) raced wide without cover throughout. Passing the 1400 metres when the pace slowed, FORJATT (IRE) shifted out slightly, with CODE OF HONOUR (GB) being buffeted and becoming unbalanced. TARBAWI (IRE) which was following was also inconvenienced. Approaching the 500 metres ELLEVAL (IRE) had to be restrained when REGULATION (IRE) lay inwards. REGULATION (IRE) had difficulty in obtaining a clear run in the straight. Jockey G Carroll (CAPTAIN JOY (IRE)) reported that his mount hung outwards throughout.

EMPIRE STORM (GER) underwent a veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. On jumping FULBRIGHT (GB) was tightened for room between MUFARRH (IRE) which shifted in and EMPIRE STORM (GER), which was taken outwards by VARIETY CLUB (SAF). EMPIRE STORM (GER) and CAPITAL ATTRACTION (USA) both raced wide without cover throughout. COLMAR KID (IRE) lay outwards rounding the home turn. On straightening FULBRIGHT (GB) was momentarily held up for a clear run. Passing the 200 metres the whip of Jockey M Barzalona (BELLO (AUS)) broke.

On jumping TAMAATHUL (GB) had to be steadied and lost ground when tightened for room between FARMLEIGH HOUSE (IRE) and ROI DE VITESSE (IRE), which shifted in. RAFEEJ (GB) and KRYPTON FACTOR (GB) both raced wide without cover. Passing the 800 metres COMPLICATE (AUS), which was over-racing, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of KRYPTON FACTOR (GB). For a short distance rounding the home turn RUSSIAN SOUL (IRE) was held up for a clear run. On straightening UNITED COLOR (USA) was disappointed for a run on the inside of PEARL FLUTE (IRE) and consequently restrained. COMPLICATE (AUS) lay inwards over the final 200 metres. The Stewards reprimanded a barrier attendant under the provisions of ERA Rule 20(xiv) for striking RUSSIAN SOUL (IRE) on the hindquarter whilst the gelding was under the control of the Starter during the start of the race.

Mr P Schiergen (EMPOLI (GER)) was notified that prior to the colt being entered to race again it must complete one satisfactory stalls test. SHEIKHZAYEDROAD (GB) and AUSSIES REIGNS (IRE) were both slow to begin. ADROITLY (AUS) over-raced in the early stages. Near the 2200 metres DORMELLO (IRE) when racing tight on the inside of VASILY (GB) buffeted with that horse losing ground. Shortly after DABADIYAN (IRE) shifted inwards holding VASILY (GB) tight as BANK OF BURDEN (USA) shifted outwards with DORMELLO (IRE) being restrained. Stewards warned Jockey S Foley (DABADIYAN (IRE)) and advised that he must ensure adequate racing room for horses on his inside. After this incident VASILY (GB) commenced to race keenly. SHEIKHZAYEDROAD (GB) lay inwards the home straight. MEANDRE (FR) lay outwards in the straight. During the running of the race, ZIP TOP (IRE) lost its right-fore plate.
