ZEE BROS (USA) and MURBEH (IRE) both raced wide without cover throughout. MUJAAZEF (GB) hung right throughout. Approaching the 800 metres CONVEYANCE (USA) momentarily steadied from MUJAAZEF (GB). Jockey S Foley (ZEE BROS (USA)) dropped his whip near the 150 metres. Jockey P Hanagan (MUJAAZEF (GB)) reported that his mount hung right throughout. Jockey S De Sousa (RACY (GB)) was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i) for permitting RACY (GB) to shift in near the 100 metres, when not clear of MERHEE (AUS), resulting in that horse having to be checked. S De Sousa had his license to ride in races suspended for 2 race-meetings (MEYDAN 8th March 2014 & ABU DHABI 9th March 2014). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account S De Sousa’s good careless riding record and the upcoming feature races. LEHAAF (ARG) made respiratory noises in running.

On jumping away MAN AMONGST MEN (IRE) was hampered by DOLCE N KARAMA (IRE) that shifted in. NAJM SUHAIL (GB) raced wide without cover throughout. Rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight JALLOTA (GB) was held up. When questioned jockey C Soumillon (WEDNAAN (GB)) explained that the colt commenced well and travelled comfortably in the early and middle stages. He added that passing the 500 metres the WEDNAAN (GB) had stumbled slightly and from that point on failed to accelerate when put under pressure and started to drop back through the field. A post-race veterinary examination of WEDNAAN (GB), revealed the colt to be suffering from atrial fibrillation. Trainer Mr M de Kock (WEDNAAN (GB)) was notified that prior to the colt entering to race again it must perform a satisfactory gallop in the presence of an ERA veterinary officer and lodge a veterinary report stating that the WEDNAAN (GB) is displaying a normal ECG after the gallop. The official gallop may only be performed fourteen (14) days after the event.
