VAN ROONEY (USA) and GABRIAL (IRE) were both slow to begin. EASTERN RULES (IRE) commenced awkwardly. VARIETY CLUB (SAF) raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages. HAATHEQ (USA) raced wide without cover throughout. Passing the 1000 metres ZAHEE (NZ), when over-racing had to be steadied off the heels of SHURUQ (USA). Rounding the home turn SHURUQ (USA) was held up for clear running. Jockey C Soumillon (ZAHEE (NZ)) reported that the colt hung left throughout. Near the 500 metres EASTERN RULES (IRE) checked severely. On inquiry it was established that at this stage of the race EASTERN RULES (IRE) which was following FORJATT (IRE) shifted to the outside of that gelding to obtain a clear run in restricted racing room and was then held tight by ZAHEE (NZ). EASTERN RULES (IRE) then checked with Jockey S Foley becoming significantly unbalanced. Stewards were of the opinion that there were a number of contributing factors to this incident and advised both S Foley and C Soumillon to exercise more care in future. Jockey S Foley (EASTERN RULES (IRE)) was fined AED 1500 under the provisions of ERA Rule of Racing 100 (i) for improper conduct following the running of this race.

Near the 1600 metres L’AMOUR DE MA VIE (USA) when over racing restrained away from heels and lost ground. Passing the 400 metres MARS (IRE) shifted out across the heels of L’AMOUR DE MA VIE (USA) to obtain clear running. Stewards opened an inquiry into the riding of ANAEROBIO (ARG) from passing the 600 metres to the early part of the straight. After taking evidence from Jockeys P Cosgrave and C Soumillon the inquiry was adjourned to a date to be fixed. A post-race veterinary examination of ANAEROBIO (ARG) revealed no abnormalities.
