OSTAAD (IRE) – (P Dobbs): Bumped another runner on jumping. Approaching the 200 metres steadied and taken inwards. The left-fore plate shifted during running. When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance, Trainer Mr D Watson explained he had been disappointed with the colt’s last start run and had consequently had the colt undergo a full veterinary test including an endoscopic examination. All tests were clear and he is of the opinion that the colt appreciated the Jebel Ali race surface. ART WAVE (IRE) – (G Buckell): Passing the 500 metres, when struck with the whip, shifted outwards quickly with the rider changing his whip to his left hand. The colt then veered inwards sharply and after taking up running on the rail and under the use of the whip again shifted outwards sharply. Whilst the Stewards did accept that the colt raced in a wayward manner, the rider was shown a video of the straight and strongly advised that under similar circumstances he is to stop riding his mount with the whip and make every effort to keep his mount straight. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. REQUESTED (GB) – (S Al Taleei): Bumped another runner on jumping. KAHRUMAN (USA) – (D O’Neill): When questioned the rider explained that the gelding was fractious in the barrier prior to the start, getting its left-fore leg up on the sideboard momentarily. The gelding then commenced awkwardly and over the concluding stages did not stretch out. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
