SPECIAL BOY (IRE) – (T O’Shea): Slow to begin. Held up for clear running passing the 500 metres until the 400 metres. LATKHAF (USA) – (R Mullen): A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be suffering from cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer Mr S Seemar was notified that prior to the horse entering to race again it must perform a satisfactory gallop in the presence of an ERA veterinary officer and lodge a veterinary report stating that LATKHAF (USA) is displaying normal ECG after the gallop. The official gallop may only be performed fourteen days after the event. SIXTY MINUTES (S De Sousa): Raced greenly in the early stages. When questioned regarding the colt’s performance, rider explained that it travelled well in the early stages but when placed under pressure, the colt gave ground quickly and in his opinion will be better suited to races over a lesser distance. GRILLETTO (USA) – (S Al Mazrouei): Shifted in under pressure in the straight.

Approaching the 1200 metres, when having a tendency to lay out, had to be checked off heels and as a result lost significant ground. When questioned, rider explained that the gelding was racing in a visor for the first time, which in his opinion contributed to the erratic racing manners of the gelding. Trainer Mr A bin Harmash advised the Stewards that he would reassess the gelding’s racing gear. GENERAL: Apprentice A Alshowaikh (COMMANDER CAVE [USA]) was reprimanded under the provisions of ERA Rule 34(vi) for failing to ride at his minimum riding weight.

PUBLICATION (IRE) – (G Buckell): Slow into stride. GOLEADOR (USA) – (D Muscutt): Shortly after the start bumped another runner and lost ground. Over-raced during the early and middle stages. Restrained and lost ground approaching the 900 metres. SHAGRAN (USA) – (O Murphy): Shifted in on jumping. Hung out approaching the 900 metres, clipped heels and almost fell. Lay out near the 700 metres and made contact with another runner. SILVER GALAXY (GB) – (S De Sousa): Brushed shortly after the start. Rider dropped his whip near the 200 metres. TAHADEE (IRE) – (S Al Mazrouei): Refused to jump with the field lost considerable ground and took no competitive part in the race. Trainer Mr A Al Raihe was notified that prior to the gelding being entered into race again it must complete two satisfactory stalls tests. GENERAL: Stewards inquired into an incident approaching the 900 metres where SHAGRAN [USA] (O Murphy) clipped the heels of MUTAHADDITH [GB] (R Ffrench) and almost fell. On inquiry it was established that SHAGRAN (USA) had commenced to hang outwards approaching the 900 metres despite the efforts of its rider to keep the colt straight and as a result clipped the heels of MUTAHADDITH (GB). In this incident GOLEADOR (USA), COLONSAY (USA) and FREEHAND (USA) were all interfered with to varying degrees. The Stewards determined that this incident was caused by the racing manners of SHAGRAN and could not clearly be attributed to any one rider, however advised all riders to exercise utmost care in similar circumstances.
