Stewards' Reports for Shahamah
WAZN (QA) – (S Mazur): Slow to begin. Made contact with another runner at the 500 metres. AL MUBTADI (AE) – (X Ziani): Bumped and steadied at the 500 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be suffering from heat stress. RB BURNING ASH (US) – (T O’Shea): Held up and restrained at the 500 metres. AZ ALDHAHMA (AE) – (G Avranche): Steadied near the 500 metres. BARASTI (FR) – (W Smith): Slow to begin. Over-raced in the early stages. SHUA’A AL GHARBIA (AE) – (A De Vries): Hung out rounding the home turn. AF SALEKAH (AE) – (N Garbutt): Shifted out abruptly at the start. NAKHWAT AL REEF (AE) – (R Mullen): When doing its preliminary, the filly threw its head striking its rider in the mouth. Jockey R Mullen dismounted and after attempting to re-mount the filly, which then became very fractious, was unable to do so and the filly was led to the barrier riderless. Jockey R Mullen was examined by the Ambulance Officer at the start and was cleared to ride. GENERAL: Stewards inquired into an incident near the 500 metres where RB BURNING ASH (US) and AL MUBTADI (AE) received tightening. On inquiry it was established at this stage of the race RB BURNING ASH (US) had taken a marginal run to the inside of MUBTADI (AE), making contact with that horse. At the same time AL MUBTADI (AE) was held tight by WAZN (QA) on its outside. In this incident both AL MUBTADI (AE) and RB BURNING ASH (US) were impeded and steadied. AZ ALDAHMA (AE) which was following steadied in consequence. Stewards advised both Jockeys T O’Shea (RB BURNING ASH [US]) and S Mazur (WAZN [QA]) to exercise more care in future.

NYMPHEA DU PAON (FR) - (S Karlsson): When questioned regarding his riding tactics rider explained that he had been instructed to lead. Further, the mare attained the lead easily and had raced within itself and had shown solid pace. He further explained that whilst the mare had led, he would have preferred to not have led by such a large margin, however the mare had performed extremely well today.
