BIGG N RICH (US) – (W Smith): Lay in under pressure over the concluding stages. RICHLORE (US) – (T O’Shea): Slow to begin and lost ground. HAAJEB (FR) – (D O’Neill): Tightened between runners and lost ground near the 1200 metres. RAAZIQ (FR) – (S De Sousa): Raced keenly in the early stages. Checked passing the 600 metres. AF LAFEH (AE) – (R Ffrench): Raced wide without cover throughout. GENERAL: Jockey S De Sousa (RAAZIQ [FR]) was fined AED 1000 under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(a) for using the whip to excess. Stewards inquired into the reason for HAAJEB (FR) (D O’Neill) restraining near the 1200 metres. On inquiry it was established that at that stage of the race, HAAJEB (FR) was racing tight to the inside of RAAZIQ (FR) (S De Sousa) when that horse, which was racing keenly, steadied inwards away from SHA’RED (FR) (J Rosales). Stewards accepted that this was a race incident. Jockey J Rosales (SHA’RED [FR]) was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i), in that passing the 600 metres he allowed his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of RAAZIQ (FR), resulting in that horse having to be checked. J Rosales had his license to ride in races suspended for two race meetings (Meydan 17.01.2015 & Abu Dhabi 18.01.2015).

BERLING (IRE) – (S Hitchcott): Knuckled at the start. EL ESTRUENDOSO (ARG) – (C Soumillon): Bumped and hampered at the start. Approaching the winning post the first time, raced tightly and made contact with another runner becoming unbalanced. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, the rider explained that the gelding had coughed throughout the race and did not appreciate the kick back. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. FARRIER (USA) – (R Mullen): Passing the winning post the first time restrained and lost ground. Severely hampered passing the 1600 metres. BUSKER (USA) – (A de Vries): Bumped by another runner at the start. DRAGON FALLS (IRE) – (A Kirby): Hampered at the start and lost ground. Over-raced for a short distance after passing the winning post on the first occasion and shifted out approaching the 1600 metres, bumping another runner. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a laceration to its right fore heel. LE BERNARDIN (USA) – (R Ffrench): Raced wide without cover throughout. ALMOONQITH (USA) – (P Hanagan): Knuckled on jumping. Approaching the 1600 metres, clipped the heels of another runner and had to be restrained, resulting in the horse losing ground. GENERAL: Jockey M Barzalona (TORCHLIGHTER [IRE]) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i), in that leaving the straight on the first occasion he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of FARRIER (USA), resulting in that gelding having to be restrained and lose ground. M Barzalona had his license to ride in races suspended for two race meetings (Meydan 17.01.2015 & Abu Dhabi 18.01.2015). Jockey M Barzalona (TORCHLIGHTER [IRE]) was reprimanded under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i) for permitting his mount to shift in approaching the 1400 metres, resulting in ALMOONQITH (USA) clipping the heels of that gelding and losing ground. Stewards took into account that at this point of the race DRAGON FALLS (IRE), which was over-racing, shifted out and made contact with ALMOONQITH (USA) which was racing on its outside. As a result of this incident, FARRIER (USA), which was racing to the outside of ALMOONQITH (USA), was severely hampered.
