OVER THE OCEAN (USA) – (E Chaves): Raced wide without cover throughout. BEAT BABY (IRE) – (P Graberg): On arriving at the barrier the right hind plate had to be re-fitted. FIGURE OF SPEECH (IRE) – (W Buick): Lost its left-fore plate during the race. PRICE IS TRUTH (USA) – (M Monaghan): Missed the start badly. GENERAL: Stewards inquired into PRICE IS TRUTH (USA) being very slow to begin. After interviewing Apprentice M Monaghan, Trainer Mr S Seemar, the ERA Starter and viewing the video of the start it was evident to the Stewards that whilst after being placed in its barrier, PRICE IS TRUTH (USA) was unruly and fractious, the barrier attendant who was up with the gelding had attempted to settle the gelding and had hold of its left ear. As the start was affected, the attendant still had hold of the ear and in the Stewards opinion, this had contributed to the gelding missing the start badly, by many lengths. Under these circumstances the Stewards didn’t place any embargo on PRICE IS TRUTH (USA), however trainer Mr S Seemar undertook to stalls tests the gelding. The barrier attendant was counselled by the ERA Starter and the starting procedures reinforced to him.
