HAMMERINDOWN (USA) – (C Hayes): Slow to begin. INTENSE EFFORT (IRE) – (D O’Neill): Raced wide without cover throughout. NEW BRUNSWICK (GER) – (H Crouch): Over-raced in the middle stage getting its head up. SKYGAZER (IRE) – (M Fernandes): The colt became extremely unruly in the saddling stall while attempting to be saddled. Despite repeated attempts, the colt could not be saddled and was withdrawn at 7.20 pm. Trainer Mr A Raihie’s representative advised that application will be made to saddle the colt in the Receiving Barn for future races at Meydan. YUKON GOLD (GB) – (G Phillips): Commenced awkwardly and then tightened for room and consequently was slow into stride. FLONA (USA) – (D Probert): Approaching the 800 metres had to be steadied off heels when over-racing. TOBACO (ARG) – (P Dobbs): After being placed in its barrier the colt became extremely fractious getting down and under the front of the barrier. When this happened the saddle was shifted backwards which resulted in the colt bucking. Following a veterinary examination the colt was withdrawn at 7.35 pm by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice. Trainer Mr D Watson was notified that prior to the colt being entered to race again it must complete one satisfactory stalls test.

FAULKNER (GB) – (P Dobbs): When questioned regarding the disappointing performance the rider advised that the horse had travelled well in the early and middle stages, however, when asked for an effort failed to run on. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be lame in the left foreleg. Trainer Mr D Watson was notified that prior to the horse being entered to the race again he must provide a veterinary certificate of fitness for the horse. ETHEDAAM (USA) – (D O’Neill): Commenced awkwardly losing ground. Rider advised that the gelding made respiratory noises on straightening. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. CROSS GRAIN (IRE) – (R Mullen): A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils. Acting under the provisions of ERA Rule 21B(a)&(e), Trainer Mr S Seemar was notified that the gelding would not be permitted to exercise, train or race for a period of 21 days and following must complete a satisfactory gallop in the presence of the ERA Stewards or Veterinary Officer.

ZAIN EAGLE (GB) – (P Dobbs): Hung inwards passing the 800 metres. ETIJAAH (USA) – (S Hitchcott): Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. When questioned regarding his riding of the gelding, rider explained that he had been instructed to settle in a mid-field position however, the gelding had over-raced in the early and middle stages and passing the 1400 metres he elected to ease back and settle behind ZAIN EAGLE (GB), in an attempt to settle the gelding. Unfortunately, ZAIN EAGLE (GB) had commenced to tire near the 500 metres and he was forced to come back and eventually obtaining a clear run on straightening. He further added that the gelding had finished the race off well. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a laceration to its right fore pastern. TORCHLIGHTER (IRE) - (R Ffrench): Shifted out on pressure at the 200 metres. MAID OF THE GLENS (IRE) – (H Crouch): Veered out on jumping unbalancing its rider. Raced wide without cover throughout. LAYALI AL ANDALUS (GB) – (R Mullen): Slow to begin. Raced wide without cover throughout.
