HANDASSA (FR) – (P Hanagan): Tightened for room shortly after the start. Raced wide without cover at the 1600 metres. When questioned, the rider explained that after receiving tightening early, the horse was reluctant to race competitively. ARKAN (OM) – (A M Al Balushi): Approaching the wining post on the first occasion lay inwards. RASI (GB) – (S Hitchcott): Bumped on jumping. QASSY (GB) – (H Bentley): Bumped on jumping. MAHESS DU SOLEIL (GB) – (R Mullen): Slow to begin. AF TAWAQ (AE) – (F Jara): Shifted in on jumping. THAKIF (FR) – (S De Sousa): Passing the 300 metres shied outwards and then continued to veer outwards to the extreme outside of the track, placing the rider at a considerable disadvantage. When questioned, the rider explained that in his opinion the horse shied from the infield TV screen at that point of the race. LARES DE PINE (FR) – (L Maniezzi): Slow to begin. AF MATHMOON (AE) – (D O'Neill): Lay inwards and bumped by another runner approaching the winning post. NASHMEE (FR) – (G Mosse): Raced wide without cover throughout. General: Trainer Mr J Al Ghazali (RASI (GB) and QASSY (GB)) was fined AED 500 under the provisions of ERA Rule 51(vii) for the late gear application on the respective runners to race with shadow rolls. RASI (GB) and QASSY (GB) were permitted to race with shadow rolls. Trainer Mr A de Mieulle (TM THUNDER STRUCK (US)) was fined AED 1000 under the provisions of ERA Rule 65(ii) for adding equipment, after the rider had weighed out, which resulted in the rider weighing in more than 0.5kg above the weight declared. Jockey D O’Neill (AF MATHMOON (AE)) was fined AED 5000 under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(a) for using the whip to excess, two more than permitted. He was further reprimanded under the provisions of ERA rule 69B(c)(vii) for hitting his mount continuously (2 strikes) without giving it a chance to respond.
