HAWKER (GB) – (P Dobbs): Slow to begin and then was inconvenienced. BRABBHAM (USA) – (H Crouch): On jumping was tightened for room and bumped heavily by another runner. Steadied passing the 1200 metres and restrained behind a tiring runner passing the 600 metres. SIGNS IN THE SAND (GB) – (R Mullen): Raced wide without cover throughout. MUKHABARAT (IRE) – (S Hitchcott): Prior to the start became fractious in the barriers and reared up. A subsequent veterinary examination passed the horse suitable to race. Shifted out on jumping bumping heavily with another runner. Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Checked passing the winning post the first time. STATESMANSHIP (GB) – (G Phillips): Taken inwards approaching the 1400 metres by another runner. IKHTISAS (USA) – (R Fitzpatrick): Commenced awkwardly. General: Stewards inquired into the reason for MUKHABARAT (IRE) having to be steadied approaching the 1400 metres. On the evidence it was established that in the early stages of the race MUKHABARAT (IRE) (S Hitchcott) had been over-racing and approaching the 1400 metres was tightened for room between ESTEBAN (GB) (J Santiago) on its inside and STATESMANSHIP (GB) (G Phillips) on its outside which was held tight and shifted inwards by GHAZI (IRE) (F Jara). As the Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that jockey F Jara (GHAZI (IRE)) was responsible for the incident, no action was taken, however all riders were reminded of their obligation to ensure that there was sufficient racing room for other runners when shifting ground.

AF AL ALMAA (AE) – (T O’Shea): Raced wide without cover in the early stages. BALAD AL REEF (AE) – (R Mullen): Slow to begin. BAREK W’RSAN (AE) – (C Hayes): Commenced awkwardly. MH THIR TEEN (AE) – (M Fernandes): Steadied approaching the turn into the straight and then was taken wider on the track. KOKOMO (AE) – (P Dobbs): Passing the 1700 metres shifted in brushing the running rail which became dislodged. The rail was readjusted by track staff prior to the field approaching the turn into the straight. Trainer Mr D Watson was questioned regarding the apparent improved performance of the mare compared to its sixth place at Sharjah on 21 November 2015. Mr Watson explained the mare must lead or race forward to give of its best. At its last start it was not able to do so as opposed to the mare being able to lead comfortably today. In his opinion this had accounted for the disappointing performance.

MAJOR (FR) – (W Smith): Bumped on jumping. FANTASTIQUE MHF (US) – (P Dobbs): Taken inwards by another runner approaching the 1500 metres. BEDAYER AL ASAYL (AE) – (G Avranche): Checked when tightened for room approaching the 1500 metres. A post-race veterinary examination, of the mare which finished last, failed to reveal any abnormalities. MISCHIEVOUS MHF (US) – (D Probert): Commenced to tire losing ground quickly from the 600 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils. Acting under the provisions of ERA Rule 21B(a)&(e), Trainer Ms J Wickham was notified that the gelding would not be permitted to exercise, train or race for a period of 21 days and following must complete a satisfactory gallop in the presence of the ERA Stewards or Veterinary Officer. OUASIMA (AE) – (J Rosales): Slow to begin. SMALAH (FR) – (T O’Shea): Raced wide without cover throughout. IBN HARMANY AL ZOBAIR (AE) – (M Fernandes): Tightened for room and taken inwards by another runner approaching the 1500 metres. Passing the 600 metres had to be severely checked off the heels of a tiring runner. General: Apprentice G Buckell (CHASE ME (GB)) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i) in that 200 metres after the start, he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of FANTASTIQUE MHF (US) (P Dobbs), resulting in that gelding shifting in onto IBN HARMANY AL ZOBAIR (AE) (M Fernandes), which was tightened for room onto BEDAYER AL ASAYL (AE) (G Avranche) which had to be checked as a result. G Buckell had his license to ride in races suspended for a period of two race meetings (Meydan 17.12.2015 & Jebel Ali 18.12.2015). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account G Buckell’s guilty plea and good careless riding record.
