After this incident the horse was angled inwards to obtain clear running. MAYDAN DU CAUSSE (AE) – (J Rosales): Raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages. General: Stewards inquired into an incident near the 400 metres involving BALAD AL REEF (AE) (F Jara) and SHEIKH DOWN (US) (T O'Shea). On inquiry it was established that at stage of the race BALAD AL REEF (AE) had angle outwards to obtain clear running as SHEIKH DOWN (US) lay inwards with both horses making contact and racing tightly and bumping for a short distance. After this incident BALAD AL REEF (AE) angled back to the rail to obtain a clear run. Stewards acknowledged that it was a race incident however advised both riders that they are to correct their mounts when they shift ground and whilst they are expected to ride competitively they must ensure they ride within the Rules.
