JUST A PENNY (IRE) - (S Hitchcott): When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of the gelding, the rider explained that the gelding was rising in class and traveled well in the early and middle stages, however tired when placed under pressure over the concluding stages. He further added that the gelding would improve for today’s run. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities. GOOD TRIP (IRE) - (T O'Shea): Slow to begin. BEACHY HEAD (IRE) – (S Al Mazrooie): When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance of the horse, trainer Mr A Al Rayhi stated that at its most recent start in South Korea, he did not have enough time to get BEACHY HEAD (IRE) fit for the race and also in his opinion the horse did not handle the sand surface. He added that BEACHY HEAD (IRE) races well at Jebel Ali, but was also surprised that the horse won. BLUFF (USA) - (R Mullen): Due to the gelding being unruly whilst being saddled, stewards granted trainer Mr D Selvaratnam to race BLUFF (USA) without a tongue tie. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. TIDES RISE (USA) - (F Jara): Near the 100 metres shifted inwards and bumped another runner. PETTY OFFICER (IRE) - (C Noble): Bounded on jumping. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils. Acting under the provisions of ERA Rule 21B(a)&(e), Trainer Mr E Charpy was notified that the gelding would not be permitted to exercise, train or race for a period of 21 days, and following must complete a satisfactory gallop in the presence of the ERA stewards or veterinary officer. UKRAINIAN (IRE) - (D O'Neill): Bumped on jumping. Approaching the 1200 metres was bumped and hampered by another runner. NAJM SUHAIL (GB) - (S Al Mazrooei): Commenced awkwardly. FA'IZ (IRE) - (A de Vries): Fractious in the barrier prior to the start. SIMPLY (GB) - (I Koyuncu): Shifted out on jumping bumping another runner. WHAT ASHAM (GB) - (J Rosales): Slow to begin. General: Apprentice G Buckell (SOGNO D’AMORE (USA)) was reprimanded under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(c)(ii) for continuing to hit his mount after its chance of being placed had clearly gone. Stewards accepted the explanation from trainer Mr R Bouresly (STATESMANSHIP (GB)) for engaging jockey B Reis, when he was unable to make the allotted weight. Mr Bouresly was advised that he must check the minimum riding weight of jockeys before engaging them to ride his horses.
