AF AL JAHED (AE) - (R Mullen): Shifted out near the 900 metres taking another runner off its course. MH TAWAG (AE) - (T O'Shea): Hung out rounding the turn near the 1200 metres. ZAATAR AL REEF (AE) - (G Avranche): Shortly after the start commenced to give ground and was eased out of the race. Rider reported that the colt felt amiss in its action shortly after the start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the colt to be lame in the right foreleg. Trainer Mr A Al Hammadi was notified that prior to the colt being entered to race again he must provide a veterinary certificate of fitness for the colt. AF MADRUB (AE) - (R de Oliveira): Shifted out abruptly on jumping. AF MIAAD (AE) - (A Fresu): Slow to begin. Taken out off its course near the 900 metres. Lay in under pressure from the 500 metres. DARS AL REEF (AE) - (F Jara): Slow to begin. Hung out rounding the turn from the 1200 metres.

The start of this race was delayed by approximately four minutes due to FAUVISM (USA) being difficult to load into the barrier. BLUFF (USA) - (C Hayes): Lay in under pressure in the straight. TRIED AND TRUE (USA) - (P Dobbs): Slow into stride. OSTAAD (IRE) - (S Hitchcott): Began awkwardly. Rider reported that the gelding lost its action over the concluding stages and for this reason he did not ride OSTAAD (IRE) out in his normal manner. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. FAUVISM (USA) - (B Reis): Was difficult to load at the barriers. Began awkwardly unbalancing its rider. Trainer Mr R Bouresly was notified that prior to the gelding being entered to race again it must complete one satisfactory stalls test. JAAREF (IRE) - (T O'Shea): Slow to begin. EMIRATES AIRLINE (GB) - (M Monaghan): Raced ungenerously in the middle stages. SUGAR BOY (GER) - (P Sirigu): Knuckled at the start. General: Jockey C Hayes (BLUFF (USA)) was reprimanded under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(a) for using the whip to excess, in that he used it on 14 occasions. Stewards took into account that this was C Hayes’s first offence under this rule this season. Jockey P Dobbs (TRIED AND TRUE (USA)) was reprimanded under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(c)(i) for hitting his mount in front of the saddle whilst he held the whip in the forehand.

ASATIR (USA) - (M Monaghan): Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground. MARXIAN (IRE) - (G Buckell): Passing the 600 metres had to be checked when tightened for room. BARATTI (USA) - (P Sirigu): A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering from heat stress. SKYGAZER (IRE) - (T O'Shea): Near the 200 metres steadied off the heels of another runner and shifted out. KALKRAND (IRE) - (J Butterfield): Slow to begin. Commenced to hang out near the 1200 metres. Shortly after passing the 600 metres, shifted out when struck with the whip, bumping and crowding the room of another runner. General: Apprentice S Al Mazrooei (PREPARED (GB)) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i), the careless riding being that passing the 600 metres, he permitted his mount to shift inwards, resulting in MARXIAN (IRE)(G Buckell) being tightened for room and having to be checked and ORMINDO (USA)(C Noble), which was racing to the inside of MARXIAN (IRE) having to be restrained. S Al Mazrooei had his license to ride in races suspended for two race meetings (Meydan 05.01.2017 & Jebel Ali 06.01.2017). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account S Al Mazrooei’s guilty plea, his good careless riding record and that the Stewards deemed the interference to be in the mid-range of carelessness. Apprentice J Butterfield (KALKRAND (IRE)) was advised to exercise more care after allowing his mount to shift out passing the 600 metres, when being struck by the whip, bumping and crowding the room of another runner. Jockey A Fresu (TADMIR (USA)) was advised to exercise more care after allowing his mount to shift out near the 200 metres, resulting in SKYGAZER (IRE)(T O’Shea) having to be steadied.
