EHTEDAAM (USA) - (Z Kashirgov): Slow to begin. LINNGARO (FR) - (A Fresu): Near the 1500 metres got its head up when racing ungenerously. Checked when tightened for room near the 1400 metres. Raced wide without cover from the 1200 metres. Lay in under pressure in the straight. STATE LAW (IRE) - (S Hitchcott): Bumped and tightened for room near the 1400 metres. JAAREF (IRE) - (T O'Shea): Checked off heels near the 1400 metres and lost ground. HERALDIC (USA) - (M Monaghan): Commenced awkwardly. Raced wide without cover in the early stages. MOOSIR (USA) - (D O'Neill): Raced up onto heels near the 1400 metres and had to be restrained. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of the gelding, the rider explained that MOOSIR (USA) is best suited when being able to lead, however did not show his customary early speed and was unable to obtain a forward position. He added that after settling in a mid-field position MOOSIR (USA) failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. General: Stewards inquired into interference to several runners near the 1400 metres. On the evidence and available footage it was established that approaching the 1400 metres, when racing onto the course proper, MOOSIR (USA)(D O’Neill) raced up onto the heels of NORTH AMERICA (GB)(R Mullen), resulting in MOOSIR (USA) having to be restrained. As a result of MOOSIR (USA) having to be restrained and losing ground through the field, JAAREF (IRE)(T O’Shea) which was following had to be checked and STATE LAW (IRE)(S Hitchcott), which was racing to the outside of JAAREF (IRE) was tightened for room and bumped. Also as a result of JAAREF (IRE) having to be checked, LINNGARO (FR)(A Fresu) which was following was tightened for room and had to be checked. As the Stewards could not attribute fault to any rider, no action was taken, however all riders were advised to exercise more care in a similar situation. Jockey C O’Donoghue (BANNOCK (IRE)) was fined AED 1000 under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(c)(vii) for hitting his mount continuously without giving it a chance to respond.

AL BAREZ (USA) - (D O'Neill): Slow to begin. CONQUERANT (GB) - (C O'Donoghue): Raced ungenerously in the middle stages. Rounding the home turn was held up for a clear run momentarily. SHEEBA (GB) - (S Hitchcott): When questioned regarding the improved performance of the gelding, trainer Mr D Watson explained that SHEEBA (GB) had been working particularly well at home since its last run at Sharjah on the 26th November 2016 and was a fitter horse this evening having its third start for the season. He further added that in his opinion SHEEBA (GB) is better suited at a distance of 1600 metres and did not stay when tried over a further distance in the past. STREET ACT (USA) - (T O'Shea): A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the right foreleg.
