ANAEROBIO (ARG) - (B Fayd'Herbe): Shifted in on jumping and bumped another runner. Approaching the 1200 metres was bumped on the hindquarter by another runner. ELITE EXCALIBUR (AUS) - (M Rodd): Shifted out on jumping and bumped another runner. Approaching the 300 metres shifted out and bumped heavily with another runner. FILS ANGES (IRE) - (A de Vries): Slow to begin. AMERICAN HOPE (USA) - (C Soumillon): Bumped on jumping. Bumped heavily by another runner approaching the 1200 metres and became unbalanced. Near the 1000 metres had to be steadied when racing tight to the inside of other runners. Passing the 300 metres was tightened for room and had to be restrained. Rider reported that the gelding received a lot of interference throughout the race, however was reluctant to finish off his race when placed under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. BANAADEER (AUS) - (D O'Neill): Near the 1200 metres had to be restrained when racing close to heels. SALATEEN (GB) - (P Dobbs): Tightened for room on jumping. Approaching the 1200 metres bumped heavily with another runner on several occasions. Rider reported that the horse received a heavy bump in the early part of the race and then appeared to lose its action. He added that on pulling up SALATEEN (GB) did appear to be sound. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. RENE MATHIS (GER) - (T Eaves): Bumped heavily by another runner approaching the 300 metres. SHAISHEE (USA) - (F Jara): Shifted out on jumping bumping another runner. Approaching the 1200 metres had to be restrained off heels and shifted out bumping another runner. KANAF (IRE) - (G Buckell): Commenced awkwardly and bumped another runner. Raced wide without cover throughout. Rider reported that the gelding hung right throughout. ENCIPHER (USA) - (T O'Shea): Raced wide without cover throughout. Was bumped heavily on the hindquarter approaching the 300 metres by another runner. Rider reported that after the horse received a heavy bump approaching the 300 metres he did not persist on riding ENCIPHER (USA) out, as he was unaware if the horse had gone amiss. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. General: Jockey J Crowley (GHAAMER (USA)) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i), the careless riding being that approaching the 1200 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of SALATEEN (GB)(P Dobbs), resulting in that horse being taken inwards and bumping heavily on several occasions with AMERICAN HOPE (USA)(C Soumillon), which became unbalanced. J Crowley had his licence to ride in races suspended for 2 race meetings (14.01.2017 Meydan & 15.01.2017 Abu Dhabi). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account J Crowley’s guilty plea, good careless riding record in the UAE and deemed the interference to be in the mid-range. As a result of this interference, SHAISHEE (USA)(F Jara) had to be restrained off heels and shifted out bumping the hindquarter of ANAEROBIO (ARG)(B Fayd’Herbe) and BANAADEER (AUS)(D O’Neill) having to be restrained when racing close to heels. Jockey M Rodd (ELITE EXCALIBUR (AUS)) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i), the careless riding being that approaching the 300 metres he shifted out and bumped heavily with RENE MATHIS (GER)(T Eaves), which was taken out and bumped heavily with the hindquarter of ENCIPHER (USA)(T O’Shea). M Rodd had his licence to ride in races suspended for 2 race meetings, to commence following his suspension incurred at the Singapore Turf Club (19.01.2017 Meydan & 20.01.2017 Jebel Ali). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account M Rodd’s guilty plea, good careless riding record in the UAE and deemed the interference to be in the mid-range. Jockey M Barzalona (MUTAWATHEA (GB)) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i), the careless riding being that passing the 300 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of AMERICAN HOPE (USA)(C Soumillon), resulting in that gelding being tightened for room and having to be restrained. M Barzalona had his licence to ride in races suspended for 2 race meetings (14.01.2017 Meydan & 15.01.2017 Abu Dhabi). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account M Barzalona’s guilty plea, good careless riding record in the UAE and deemed the interference to be in the mid-range.
