CURBYOURENTHUSIASM (IRE) - (J Spencer): When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of the gelding, the rider explained that CURBYOURENTHUSIASM (IRE) never traveled well throughout and was under pressure from the 800 metres. REMBRANDT VAN RIJN (IRE) - (M Barzalona): Passing the 1600 metres quickly improved around the field and settled just off the lead approaching the 1200 metres. BLUE RAMBLER (GB) - (G Downing): Shied at the winning post on the first occasion. BRASS RING (GB) - (A de Vries): A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the right foreleg. Trainer Mr. I Mohammed was notified that prior to the gelding being entered to race again he must provide a veterinary certificate of fitness for the gelding. RED GALILEO (GB) - (C Soumillon): Raced keen in the early stages. Rider explained that approaching the 1600 metres he elected to shift his mount outwards to clear galloping room in an attempt to relax the RED GALILEO (GB), as it had been over-racing in the early stages. General: Jockey C Soumillon (RED GALILEO (GB)) was reprimanded under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(c)(i) for hitting his mount in front of the saddle whilst holding his whip in the forehand.

FANCIFUL ANGEL (IRE) - (D Muscutt): Bumped another runner then lost ground. SILENT ATTACK (GB) - (P Cosgrave): Slow to begin. Checked when tightened for room approaching the 200 metres. ARABDA (GB) - (E Chaves): Passing the 300 metres was bumped on the hindquarter and then bumped again shortly after by another runner, becoming unbalanced. BELGIAN BILL (GB) - (C O'Donoghue): Shifted out on jumping and bumped another runner. ENCIPHER (USA) - (T O'Shea): Approaching the 1200 metres was bumped by another runner. General: Steward inquired in the reason for TAHANEE (ARG)(C Soumillon) being interfered with passing the 300 metres. On the evidence and available footage it was established that passing the 300 metres TAHANEE (ARG) when improving bumped the hindquarter of ARABDA (GB)(E Chaves), this resulted in TAHANEE (ARG) shifting outwards and becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of ART WAVE (IRE)(F Jara), which had shifted in marginally. When being awkwardly placed on heels, TAHANEE (ARG) shifted inwards again and bumped with ARABDA (GB). As Stewards could not attribute fault to any rider, no action was taken other than to advise all riders to exercise more care when similar situations. Jockey W Buick (SECRET BRIEF (IRE)) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i), the careless riding being that approaching the 200 metres he permitted his mount to shift in, tightening the running of SILENT ATTACK (GB)(P Cosgrave), which had to be checked. W Buick had his license to ride in races suspended for 2 race meetings (22.01.2017 Abu Dhabi & 26.01.2017 Meydan). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account W Buick’s guilty plea, good careless riding record and deemed the carelessness to be in the low range. Jockey C O’Donoghue (BELGIAN BILL (GB)) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i), the careless riding being that approaching the 100 metres he permitted his mount to shift in, taking in ART WAVE (IRE)(F Jara) in onto TAHANEE (ARG)(C Soumillon), which was tightened for room and had to be checked. C O’Donoghue had his license to ride in races suspended for 2 race meetings (22.01.2017 Abu Dhabi & 26.01.2017 Meydan). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account C O’Donoghue’s guilty plea, good careless riding record and deemed the interference to be in the mid range.
