BRECHIN (GB) - (C O'Donoghue): Bumped on jumping. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the colt to be lame in the right foreleg. Trainer Mr A. bin Harmash was notified that prior to the colt being entered to race again he must provide a veterinary certificate of fitness for the colt. FIRST START (GB) - (R Mullen): Slow to begin. When questioned regarding the performance of the colt, the rider reported that in his opinion FIRST START (GB) would appreciate a drop in race distance. MINOR'S CUP (USA) - (A McLean): Re-saddled at the barrier. MURRAYFIELD (USA) - (S Hitchcott): Shifted out on jumping and bumped another runner. PRINCE JAI (GB) - (A de Vries): Eased out of the race passing the 1000 metres. Rider reported the gelding failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure and for this reason retired his mount from this point. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. SCANDICCI (USA) - (M Monaghan): Fractious in the barrier prior to the start. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of the gelding, the rider explained that SCANDICCI’s (USA) barrier manners may have affected its performance today. General: Apprentice I Koyuncu (SECRET TRADE (IRE)) was fined AED 500 under the provisions of ERA Rule 34(vi) for failing to claim his full allowance and having to be replaced. Rider P Sirigu (GRATUITIES)(USA)) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i), the particulars being that near the 1400 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of VIVERNUS(USA), resulting in that colt being checked by its rider. P Sirigu had his license to ride in races suspended for two race meetings (26.01.2017 Meydan & 27.01.2017 Al Ain). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account P Sirigu’s guilty plea, good careless riding record and deemed the carelessness to be in the low range.

ROYAL REVIVAL (GB) - (C Noble): Lay out rounding the home turn. RESONANT (IRE) - (P Dobbs): Difficult to load. Raced keen in the early stages. Trainer Mr D Watson was notified that prior to the gelding being entered to race again it must complete one satisfactory stalls test. PHILOSOPHER (IRE) - (S Hitchcott): Slow to begin. Restrained off heels near the 250m, shifted out and bumped another runner, then had difficulty obtaining clear running for a short distance. SECURE ACCESS (USA) - (C Hayes): Slow to begin. BILLINGSGATE (IRE) - (F Jara): Slow to begin. JAAREF (IRE) - (T O'Shea): Near the 250 metres bumped by another runner and became unbalanced. EXPERT (IRE) - (A de Vries): Difficult to load and was slow to begin. Trainer Mr I. Mohammed was notified that prior to the gelding being entered to race again it must complete one satisfactory stalls test. MUNDAHESH (IRE) - (H Bentley): Commenced awkwardly. BAROOT (GB) - (P Cosgrave): Near the 250 metres bumped by another runner and became unbalanced. General: Trainer Mr R Bouresly (QUEL AVANTAGE (IRE)) was fined AED 2000 under the provisions of ERA Rule 60(iii) for failing to notify the Stewards of the withdrawal of QUEL AVANTAGE (IRE). As a result QUEL AVANTAGE (IRE) was withdrawn by the order of Stewards at 6:45 pm. Stewards inquired into the reason for PHILOSOPHER (IRE) having to be restrained off the heels of DYNAMITE FERID (FR) near the 250 metres. It was established that shortly after straightening, RESONANT (IRE) (P Dobbs) briefly shifted out away from DYNAMITE FERID (FR) before again shifting back in taking PHILOSOPHER (IRE), which had shifted out from behind DYNAMITE FERID (FR) onto that horse’s heels as it had commenced to weaken. In all the circumstances Stewards reprimanded rider Patrick Dobbs under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i) for shifting ground when not sufficiently clear. In determination, Stewards acknowledged that DYNAMITE FERID (FR) had shifted out slightly and that PHILOSOPHER (IRE) had not established a clear run between DYNAMITE FERID (FR) and RESONANT (IRE) prior to the incident occurring.
