STATE LAW (IRE) - (D O'Neill): Slow to begin. MILTON (USA) - (A de Vries): Over-raced in the early stages. Lay in under pressure in the straight. Bumped another runner near the 200 metres. BANNOCK (IRE) - (P Sirigu): Raced wide without cover throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils. Acting under the provisions of ERA Rule 21B(a)&(e), Trainer Mr A bin Harmash was notified that the gelding would not be permitted to exercise, train or race for a period of 90 days, and following must complete a satisfactory gallop in the presence of the ERA Stewards or Veterinary officer. DOCKET (USA) - (S Hitchcott): Threw its head on jumping. Over-raced in the early stages. SHEEBA (GB) - (P Dobbs): Commenced awkwardly and lost ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the left foreleg. Trainer Mr D Watson was notified that prior to the gelding being entered to race again he must provide a veterinary certificate of fitness for SHEEBA (GB). SECRET AMBITION (GB) - (R Mullen): Scrambled on jumping. Bumped by another runner near the 200 metres. SKY JOCKEY (GB) - (C Noble): Commenced awkwardly unbalancing its rider and lost ground. Tightened for room near the 1300 metres and had to be restrained. General: Stewards inquired into the reason for SKY JOCKEY (GB)(C Noble) being tightened for room and having to be restrained near the 1300 metres. On the evidence and available footage it was established that SKY JOCKEY (GB) was racing tight to the inside of MILTON (USA)(A de Vries), which was over-racing and shifted in away from EMIRATES AIRLINE (GB)(A Fresu), which shifted in marginally. As Stewards could not attribute blame to any one rider no action was taken other than to advise all riders to exercise more care in a similar situation.

A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. ZAIN EAGLE (GB) - (S Hitchcott): Slow to begin and was then bumped by another runner. General: Jockey D O’Neill (MUTASAYYID (GB)) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i), the particulars of the charge being that approaching the 300 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of BILLINGSGATE (IRE)(F Jara), which was tightened for room and had to be checked. D O’Neill had his license to ride in races suspended for two race meetings (Meydan 9.02.2017 and Al Ain 10.02.17). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account D O’Neill’s guilty plea, deemed the interference to be in the mid-range and that he was unable to ride at a Meydan carnival meeting.
