RED GALILEO (GB) - (A de Vries): Had to be steadied when tightened for room approaching the winning post on the first occasion. ZAMAAM (GB) - (J Crowley): Passing the 1600 metres commenced to race ungenerously until near the 1200 metres. VAZIRABAD (FR) - (C Soumillon): Dipped on jumping. Raced ungenerously passing the 1600 metres. Had to be momentarily restrained approaching the 100 metres. SHEIKHZAYEDROAD (GB) - (R Mullen): Raced keen in the early and middle stages. CARBON DATING (IRE) - (T O'Shea): Checked when tightened for room approaching the 500 metres RIO TIGRE (IRE) - (M Barzalona): Commenced awkwardly and lost ground. When questioned regarding the ride on the horse, the rider explained that he was instructed to take up a forward position and after beginning awkwardly he was unable to do so. He added that turning into the back straight passing the 1600 metres he allowed RIO TIGRE (IRE) to improve around the field, however when placed under pressure rounding the home turn commenced to give ground. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. General: Stewards inquired into the reason for CARBON DATING (IRE)(T O’Shea) having to be checked approaching the 500 metres. On the evidence it was established that approaching the 500 metres CARBON DATING (IRE) was tightened for room between SHEIKHZAYEDROAD (GB)(R Mullen) and BEAUTIFUL ROMANCE (GB)(O Murphy), resulting in CARBON DATING having to be checked off the heels of BEAUTIFUL ROMANCE (GB). As Stewards could not establish to a reasonable amount of certainty whether the tightening occurred due to a shift from either SKEIKHZAYEDROAD (GB) or BEAUTIFUL ROMANCE (GB), therefore no action was taken, other than notifying all riders to exercise more care in a similar situation. Jockey O Murphy (BEAUTIFUL ROMANCE (GB)) was reprimanded under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i) for careless riding, in that passing the 100 metres he allowed his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of VAZIRABAD (FR)(C Soumillon), which had to be momentarily restrained.

GHAAMER (USA) - (D O'Neill): Travelled wide without cover in the early stages. BRAVO ZOLO (IRE) - (W Buick): Passing the 50 metres and over the concluding stages bumped several times with another runner. MR OWEN (USA) - (O Murphy): On arrival at the barrier underwent a veterinary examination at the request of its rider and was subsequently passed suitable to race. On return to scale the rider stated that MR OWEN (USA) did not travel well throughout and appeared to be short in its action. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. DARK EMERALD (IRE) - (T O'Shea): Slow to begin. JOHANN STRAUSS (GB) - (B Fayd'Herbe): Slow to begin. SUYOOF (AUS) - (J Crowley): Commenced awkwardly and lost ground. TAHANEE (ARG) - (C Soumillon): Passing the 50 metres and over the concluding stages bumped several times with another runner. HAALICK (IRE) - (C Hayes): Slow to begin. SALATEEN (GB) - (C O'Donoghue): On return to scale the rider reported that the horse lost its action and for this reason eased SALATEEN (GB) down over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. General: Stewards delayed correct weight to view the video footage and establish if there was interference between 2nd placegetter BRAVO ZOLO (IRE)(W Buick) and 3rd placegetter TAHANEE (ARG)(C Soumillon) over the concluding stages. It was established that over the final 50 metres both BRAZO ZOLO (IRE) and TAHANEE (ARG) shift ground and bumped each other on several occasions. Bearing in mind the official margin of a short head, Stewards were satisfied that the interference did not affect the result of the race and therefore correct weight was declared.
