JORVIK (IRE) - (M Monaghan): Restrained approaching the 1200 metres when tightened for room. LEGEND'S GATE (IRE) - (R Ffrench): Began awkwardly. Checked off heels approaching the 1200 metres. AL YABOOB (IRE) - (P Sirigu): Lay in under pressure in the straight. PATELEY BRIDGE (IRE) - (A McLean): Commenced to weaken from the 800 metres before shifting to the outside of the track and collapsing. The veterinarian reported that the gelding collapsed from a suspected heart attack. PATELEY BRIDGE (IRE) will undergo a post mortem examination. PURPLE WIND (IRE) - (H Bentley): Was taken inwards by another runner from the 300 metres and near the 150 metres was hampered by that runner. SECRET TRADE (IRE) - (T O'Shea): Slow to begin. General: Jockey D O’Neill (TARTOOR (GER)) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i), the careless riding being that approaching the 1200 metres he shifted in when not sufficiently clear of ETIBAAR (USA), resulting in that gelding being taken inwards onto JORVIK (IRE), which had to be restrained. LEGEND’S GATE (IRE) which was following JORVIK (IRE) had to be checked as a result. D O’Neill had his license to ride in races suspended for two race meetings (Meydan 01.12.2016 & Al Ain 02.12.2016). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account D O’Neill’s guilty plea and good careless riding record. Jockey P Sirigu (AL YABOOB (IRE)) was reprimanded under the provision of ERA Rule 69(i) for carelessly permitting his mount to shift in from the 400 metres to the 150 metres, thereby hampering PURPLE WIND (IRE) near the 150 metres. Stewards advised P Sirigu that he must make a greater effort in keeping his mount straight in a similar circumstance.

The start of this race was delayed 3 minutes due to MOLAHEN EL ALHAN (AE) having to be re-shod. MEYDAN DU PAON (FR) - (G Avranche): After being difficult to load became extremely fractious.
