YALAP AL NAIF (QA) - (G Buckell): Raced wide without cover throughout. SALMEEN (US) – (G Avranche): Near 1200m taken in off its course. MH AREEB (AE) - (A Fresu): Commenced awkwardly. AL WAQQAD (AE) – (R Ffrench): Near 1200m tightened for room and lost ground. THA'ER (AE) - (F Jara): Commenced awkwardly. AF MAHSHOUM (AE) - (T O'Shea): Slow to begin then bumped another runner. AF YATROQ (AE) - (R Mullen): Bumped on jumping. Steadied when tightened for room near the 400 metres. General: Apprentice I Koyuncu (NAMOOS AL REEF (AE)) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i), in that near the 1200 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of SALMEEN (US)(G Avranche), which was taken in onto HAKIM (AE)(P Dobbs), which had to be checked by it’s rider. In this incident AL WAQQAD (AE)(R Ffrench), which was racing to the inside of HAKIM (AE) was also severely tightened and lost ground. I Koyuncu had his licence to ride in races suspended for two race meetings (Abu Dhabi 05.02.17 and Meydan 09.02.17). In accessing penalty Stewards took into account I Koyuncu’s guilty plea, good careless riding record and deem the interference to be in the high-range. Stewards inquired into AF YATROQ (AE)(R Mullen) being tightened for room near the 400 metres. It was established that NAMOOS AL REEF (AE)(I Koyuncu) shifted in when laying in, tightening the running of AF YATROQ (AE), who was restrained as a result. I Koyuncu was reminded of his obligations to do his utmost to keep his mounts straight when shifting ground and took into account that AF MAHSHOUM (AE)(T O’Shea) shifted out slightly at the time of the incident. Riders P Dobbs and S Hitchcott were reminded of their obligations under ERA Rule 56(iii) to present themselves to the Clerk of Scales at least one hour prior to the start of their first race.
