JOURNALISTIC (USA) - (X Ziani): When questioned regarding the performance of the horse, the rider explained that JOURNALISTIC (USA) appeared to lose its action near the 600 metres and for this reason eased the horse down in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be short in its action in front. LOGISTICS (FR) - (G Buckell): The rider reported that the colt travelled well in the early and middle stages however near the 400 metres commenced to weaken noticeably and in his opinion there may have been something amiss with LOGISTICS (FR). SHAMIKH AL WATHBA (AE) - (A Fresu): Lay out under pressure over the concluding stages proving difficult to ride. FATTAL (AE) - (X Ziani): Rider reported that the horse hung left throughout and bumped the running rail on several occasions. QASSAM W'RSAN (AE) - (C Hayes): Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race. RB BURNING ASH (US) - (T O'Shea): Commenced awkwardly. General: Jockey A Fresu (SHAMIKH AL WATHBA (AE)) was suspended for one race meeting under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(a) for using the whip to excess, in that he used it on 15 occasions. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account that this was A Fresu’s fourth breach of this rule this season. A one meeting suspension was issued for Meydan, March 25, 2017, however under the provisions of ERA Rule 99(ii), Stewards granted A Fresu to defer his suspension as it coincided with a Group Race conducted in the UAE. Accordingly the suspension was deferred and imposed for China (Chengdu), April 2, 2017.
