AF SAQUEL (AE) - (A McLean): Shifted in away from another runner over the concluding stages. MAHDI (AE) - (F Jara): Slow to begin. Lay out near the 800 metres for short distance. ZENA AL MARAS (AE) - (S Hitchcott): Slow into stride. WALD JOHNNY (AE) – (G Buckell): The horse had been unruly in the horse box when being transported to the track and underwent a pre-race veterinary examination. The veterinarian reported that the horse had some minor abrasions and was suitable to race. General: Jockey C Figueroa (NAIEM (AE)) was reprimanded under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(c)(i) for hitting his mount in front of the saddle whilst holding the whip in forehand.

Steadied when tightened for room rounding the home turn near the 400 metres. SHATEH (FR) - (R Mullen): Shifted ground shortly after the start. BADIRA DE MONLAU (FR) - (R Ffrench): Slow to begin. Bumped passing the 1400 metres. HAMZA (AE) - (J Rosales): Hampered shortly after the start MEYDAN DU PAON (FR) - (K Grzybowski): At the start stood flat footed and lost considerable ground. NAHEE (FR) - (S Hitchcott): Slow to begin. Shifted out passing the 1400 metres and bumped another runner. NAJM ALEMARAT (FR) – (D O’Neill): Steadied off heels near the 1400 metres. Rider had to stop riding for a short distance when racing in restricted room near the 200 metres. General: Stewards inquired into the reason for RB TORCH (US)(A De Vries) being steadied rounding the home turn near the 400 metres. It was established that RB TORCH (US) was steadied when tightened for room between HAMZA (AE)(J Rosales) and PADDY’S DAY (US)(P Dobbs), which shifted out when laying out. Stewards further inquired into the reason for NAJM ALEMARAT (FR)(D O’Neill) having to stop riding for a short distance near the 200 metres. It was established that NAJM ALEMARAT (FR) was placed in restricted room for a short distance between NAHEE (FR)(S Hitchcott) and PADDY’S DAY (US)(P Dobbs) who shifted out when laying out. Stewards acknowledged that PADDY’S DAY (US) did lay out rounding the home turn and for the entire length of the straight, however advised Jockey P Dobbs that in a similar circumstance he must endeavor to keep his mount as straight as possible.

Was subsequently passed suitable to race. Trainer reported that following the race the gelding had cuts to its right hind leg. MOLAHEN EL ALHAN (AE) - (G Avranche): Began awkwardly. Near the 400 metres had to be steadied and clipped heels when tightened for room. RB DIXIE BURNING (US) - (T O'Shea): Slow to begin. Taken inwards near the 400 metres by another runner. BALAD AL REEF (AE) - (F Jara): Commenced to lay out from the 1000 metres and then raced wide without cover for the remainder of the race. HAMARES (FR) – (R Ffrench): Had to be checked when tightened for room near the 400 metres. SAFINA GHANTOOT (AE) - (C Figueroa): Raced wide without cover throughout. General: Jockey A Fresu (JABAL ALY (GB)) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i), the careless riding being, that near the 400 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of MOLAHEN EL ALHAN (AE)(G Avranche), resulting in that runner having to be steadied, clipping heels and being taken inwards onto RB DIXIE BURNING (US)(T O’Shea), which shifted inwards onto HAMARES (FR)(R Ffrench), which had to be checked. A Fresu had his license to ride in races suspended for two race meetings (Meydan 17.11.2016 & Al Ain 18.11.2016). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account A Fresu’s guilty plea, good careless riding record, his forthright evidence and deemed the interference to be in the mid-range. Jockey F Jara (BALAD AL REEF (AE)), who finished 2nd, explained that due to his mount laying out to the outside of the track, he did not ride the horse out in his normal vigor over the final 50 metres. F Jara was reminded of his obligations in relation to ERA Rule 69(iii), in that he must ride his mount out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stewards. Stewards adjourned an inquiry into the reason for Jockey G Avranche leaving the race course when requested to stay regarding interference near the 400 metres.

LAST FIGHTER (IRE) - (R Mullen): Inconvenienced near the 500 metres. MOONTIME (GB) - (R de Oliveira): Leaving the straight on the first occasion, when racing ungenerously became tightened for room when AMAAN (USA) laid out. PRINCE SUHAIL (IRE) - (A Fresu): Slow to begin. Had to shift outward on straightening to obtain a clear run. HISTORIC FIND (GB) - (G Buckell): Race wide without cover throughout the race. AMAAN (USA) - (M Monaghan): Commenced awkwardly. Leaving the straight on the first occasion lay out slightly when racing ungenerously. TAKREYM (IRE) - (S Hitchcott): Commenced to give ground from the 600 metres when placed under pressure. EMIRATES GALLOPER (IRE) - (C Noble): Hampered on jumping. Near the 500 metres was bumped heavily by another runner and fell. The veterinarian reported that the gelding had sustained a severe fracture to its left foreleg bone and as a result had to be humanely euthanized. EMIRATES SKYWARDS (IRE) - (S Mazur): Near the 500 meters shifted out and bumped heavily with another runner. General: Jockey S Mazur (EMIRATES SKYWARDS (IRE)) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i), the careless riding being that near the 500 metres he shifted out when not clear of EMIRATES GALLOPER (IRE)(C Noble), making heavy contact with that gelding and causing it to fall. S Mazur had his license to ride in races suspended for five race meetings (Meydan 17.11.2016, Al Ain 18.11.2016, Sharjah 19.11.2016, Abu Dhabi 20.11.2016 & Jebel Ali 25.11.2016). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account S Mazur’s guilty plea, good careless riding record and deemed the interference to be in the high-range. Stewards adjourned an inquiry into the use of the whip by A Fresu (PRINCE SUHAIL (IRE)) to a date to be fixed.
