MATHEMATICS (GB) - (M Monaghan): Leaving the mounting yard was fractious, dislodging its rider on several occasions. Was led to the stating stalls, resulting in the start of this race being delayed. Checked near the 1100 metres. Rider reported that the pre-race manners of the gelding contributed to the disappointing performance. INITIAL (IRE) - (R Ffrench): Tightened for room when taken in off his course near the 1100 metres. INTERMEDIUM (GB) - (B Bate): Began awkwardly. Raced ungenerously in the early stages. KING OF MACEDON (IRE) - (X Yu): Bounded at the start and lost ground. BALLAD SINGER (GB) - (L Ma): Bumped at the start by another runner. DAMAR (IRE) - (W Wang): Bumped at the start by another runner. Ran wide without cover for the majority of the event. PINTER (GB) - (B Fayd'Herbe): Slow to begin. General: Y Chen (CENTRIFUGAL (GB)) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i), the particulars being that near the 1100 metres he shifted in when not sufficiently clear of INITIAL (IRE)(R Ffrench), tightening that horse in onto MATHEMATICS (GB)(M Monaghan), which had to be checked. Y Chen had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period of 2 race meetings, the dates of which will be confirmed with the China horseracing regulatory body. In determining penalty Stewards took into account Y Chen’s guilty plea and that in their opinion the interference was in the mid-range. W Wang (DAMAR (IRE)) pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(a) in that he used his whip to excess on 16 occasions, 4 more strikes than permitted. W Wang has his licence to ride in races suspended for a period of 1 race meeting, the date of which will be confirmed with the China horseracing regulatory body. In determining penalty Stewards took into account that DAMAR (IRE) won the race.

As the shoes could not be replaced, acting under the provisions of ERA Rule 63A(iii) Stewards approved STORM BELT (USA) to run barefoot behind. The start was further delayed due to START RIGHT (GB) breaking through the front of its stall. STORM BELT (USA) - (P Dobbs): On arrival at the barrier was examined by the Club’s Veterinary officer and passed suitable to start. LAYALI AL ANDALUS (GB) - (M Monaghan): Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. INTERPRET (USA) - (B Fayd'Herbe): Slow to begin.
