AL MUHALHAL AL THANI (AE) - (S Al Balushi): Near the 250 metres, had to check when disappointed for clear running. GAFEL (AE) - (P Cosgrave): Lay out rounding the turn. MUKARAM (AE) - (T O'Shea): Slow to begin. AF MAKERAH (AE) - (S De Sousa): Passing 300 metres shifted in away from another runner. AF TARAHA (AE) - (A Fresu): Lay out rounding the turn near the 1200 metres. Passing 300 metres, was tightened for room and had to be checked. SHAH JAHAN DE RODAIM (AE) - (R Ffrench): Commenced awkwardly. AF WAQAS (AE) - (J Egan): Knuckled at the start. Lay out rounding the turn near the 1200 metres. Passing the 300 metres, when racing ungenerously, shifted in and away from another runner and had to be restrained. AMER AL REEF (AE) - (R Smithers): Commenced awkwardly. Near the 1500 metres, eased off the heels of another runner. DHAMIN (AE) - (R Mullen): Commenced awkwardly. BAHDAH AL REEF (AE) - (J Santiago): Approaching the 1200 metres, commenced to lay out. General: Trainer E Oertel (AF WAQAS (AE)) was fined AED 500 under the provisions of ERA Rule 51(vii) for the late equipment change to race the colt with cheek pieces. Jockey A Fresu (AF TARAHA (AE)) was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground when he allowed his filly to shift in shortly after the start when insufficiently clear of AMER AL REEF (AE), resulting in that horse having to be eased off heels of AF TARAHA (AE). Stewards inquired into the reason for AF TARAHA (AE)(A Fresu) and AF WAQAS (AE)(J Egan) being interfered with passing the 300 metres. On the evidence and available footage, it was established that passing the 300 metres, INTHAR (AE)(X Ziani) shifted inwards resulting in AF MAKERAH (AE)(S de Sousa) shifting in and away from that horse and tightening the running of AF WAQAS (AE), which had to be restrained and taken inwards onto AF TARAHA (AE), resulting in that filly having to be checked. Stewards noted the evidence of S de Sousa that his filly shifted in and away from INTHAR (AE) and the evidence by J Egan that his colt raced ungenerously when racing tight amongst runners. Stewards took no direct action, however advised X Ziani that he must do his upmost to prevent his mount from shifting ground inwards in a similar situation. Jockey R Smithers (AMER AL REEF (AE)) was reprimanded under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(c)(ii) for continuing to hit his mount after its chance of being placed was clearly gone.
