SEA SKIMMER (GB) - (P Cosgrave): Raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages. ELJEEMI (IRE) - (A Fresu): Near the 400 metres was checked when tightened for room. THAAQIB (GB) - (J Crowley): Near 400 metres was restrained when tightened for room while weakening. GAVROCHE (USA) - (F Jara): Raced wide without cover throughout. CALL SIGN (USA) - (J Quinn): Bumped near the 400 metres. BOIS DE BOULOGNE (USA) - (X Ziani): Shifted out near the 400 metres and bumped another runner. General: Stewards inquired into the reasons for THAAQIB (GB)(J Crowley) being restrained and losing ground and ELJEEMI (IRE)(A Fresu) being checked, near the 400 metres. It was established that while improving near the 400 metres BOIS DE BOULOGNE (USA)(X Ziani) shifted off the rail to obtain clear running and in doing so bumped CALL SIGN (USA)(J Quinn) outwards, resulting in THAAQIB (GB), which was weakening, having to be restrained as a result. In this incident ELJEEMI (IRE), which was racing to the outside of THAAQIB (GB), was tightened for room and made contact with ESTIKMAAL (IRE)(D O’Neill), resulting in that gelding being bumped on the hindquarter and shifting inwards, resulting in ELJEEMI (IRE) having to be checked. Due to multiple contributions to this interference from separate sources, as well as inconclusive video footage and evidence of the riders, Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied to blame anyone rider for this interference. Nonetheless both X Ziani and D O’Neill were reprimanded under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i), for failing to make sufficient effort to keep their mounts straight.

PICTOGRAPH (USA) - (S De Sousa): Re-plated behind the barrier before being examined and passed suitable to race by the veterinarian. Slow to begin. USTURA (USA) - (A Al Siyabi): Slow to begin. WAR STRIKE (CAN) - (P Cosgrave): Difficult to load. Trainer Mr G Selvaratnam was advised that prior to the gelding entering to race again, it must complete one satisfactory stalls test. DOCKET (USA) - (P Sirigu): Commenced awkwardly and lost ground. Made the turn near the 1200 metres extremely wide. General: Jockey F Jara (VOICE OF THE NORTH (USA)) was reprimanded under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(c)(ii) for continuing to hit his mount after its chance of being placed had clearly gone.

BARJEEL (USA) - (T O'Shea): Rider explained that the gelding raced flat and may not have appreciated the quick back up after racing at Meydan on 4th January 2018. IMPRISON (FR) - (J Quinn): Slow to begin. Near the 200 metres was taken outwards by another runner. LAVASPIN (GB) - (R Mullen): Slow to begin. Raced greenly over the concluding stages. LOURES (IRE) - (F Jara): Bumped on jumping and lost ground. THE JINAD (IRE) - (A Fresu): Shifted in on jumping and bumped heavily with another runner. Near the 200 metres was bumped by another runner and had to be steadied. General: Stewards inquired into the reason for THE JINAD (IRE)(A Fresu) having to be steadied near the 200 metres. It was established that near the 200 metres KUNANI (USA)(R Ffrench) shifted out to obtain clear running, however shortly after KUNANI (USA) continued to shifted out, resulting in IMPRISON (FR)(J Quinn) being taken out and THE JINAD (IRE), which was weakening, having to be eased off that gelding’s heels. As Stewards were of the opinion that R Ffrench could have corrected his mount from continuing to shift ground sooner than he did on this occasion, after he initially shifted out from behind PALEOLITHIC (IRE), R Ffrench was issued with a reprimand under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i).
