CALL SIGN (USA) - (A Fresu): Lay out from the 600 metres. JAMES LANE (USA) - (R Fitzpatrick): Commenced awkwardly. VOSKI (USA) - (J Rosales): Slow to begin. NICE FUTURE (IRE) - (E Chaves): Commenced awkwardly. General: As H Bentley did not accept the ride on EPSILON (USA), Stewards acceded to the request of Trainer Mr E Oertel to use apprentice L Tarentaal, as no rider was available. Trainer Mr E Oertel (EPSILON (USA)) was fined the sum of AED 500 under the provisions of ERA Rule 51(vii) for the use of cheek pieces on the gelding Apprentice R Fitzpatrick (JAMES LANE (USA)) pleaded guilty and was fined the sum of AED 3000 and suspended for 2 race-meetings (Jebel Ali 23.3.18 & Meydan 31.3.18) under the provisions of ERA Rule 58(iii) for weighing out in a safety vest that had been modified. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. STORM BELT (USA) - (P Dobbs): Raced wide without cover throughout. ROUND TWO (IRE) - (E Chaves): Near the 600 metres disappointed for clear running when tightened for room. INTERPRET (USA) - (A Fresu): Slow to begin. General: Jockey A Fresu (INTERPRET (USA)) was reprimanded under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(c)(vii) for hitting his mount continuously without giving it a chance to respond. Stewards noted that this was A Fresu’s first breach of the rule for this season.
