AF LEWAA (AE) - (I Poullis): Shifted out on jumping. Shortly after the start was tightened for room. When questioned regarding the performance of the colt, the rider explained that after beginning only fairly, the colt was tightened for room and did not want to take any part of the race thereafter. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities other than an abrasion to its left foreleg. AF LEZOOM (AE) - (R Mullen): On the way to the barrier, the rider reported to the Stewards that in his opinion, there was something amiss with the colt. AF LEZOOM (AE) underwent a veterinary examination and was found to be unsuitable to race. Acting on the veterinary report, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of AF LEZOOM (AE) at 2:58 pm. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed the colt to be lame in the left foreleg. Trainer Mr E Oertel was advised that prior to the horse being entered to race again, he must provide a veterinary certificate of fitness for AF LEZOOM (AE). AL NAJEEB (AE) - (J Rosales): Slow to begin. BAARIZ (AE) - (T O'Shea): Jumped out awkwardly. Shifted out and bumped another runner. CITY TURBINE (AE) - (S Davis): Slow to begin. Raced ungenerously throughout. When questioned regarding the performance of the colt, the rider explained that CITY TURBINE (AE) hung left throughout. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. SHAHED (AE) - (J Santiago): Bumped on jumping. AF TAREH AL THAHAB (AE) - (A Fresu): Shifted in on jumping and bumped another runner. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have an abrasion to its left foreleg. ES AL BAL (AE) - (S Hitchcott): Bumped on jumping. FADIA AL REEF (AE) - (F Jara): Shifted in on jumping and bumped another runner. HEBAYEB AL GHARBIA (AE) – (B Reis): Under the provisions of ERA Rule 8(xii) Stewards ordered the late withdrawal of the filly at 2.47pm after receiving a report from ERA Veterinarian Dr Rose, that the filly had presented on course with a puncture wound on its left side jugular vein, consistent with a recent injection. Evidence was taken from Dr Rose, Mr M Daggash, the trainer of HEBAYEB AL GHARBIA (AE), and members of the trainer’s stable staff. Stewards conducted an inspection of the truck that transported the filly to the track and ordered a blood and urine sample be taken from HEBAYEB AL GHARBIA (AE). The matter has been adjourned to a date to be fixed. MAITHA (AE) - (P Cosgrave): Shifted in on jumping and bumped another runner. TANAASEM AL REEF (AE) - (C Beasley): Bumped on jumping.
