General: Correct weight was delayed to allow Ms E Jeanne, the Trainer of MALAB (AE)(Second placegetter) to view the official photo finish. After viewing the photo Ms E Jeanne agreed with the decision and correct weight was declared. Jockey M Zeeshan (DUHIS W’RSAN (AE)) was fined AED 1000 under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(a) for using the whip to excess, in that he used it on 18 occasions. In assessing the penalty, Stewards noted that under the rules only 12 strikes are permitted and M Zeeshan had excessively gone over the amount of strikes allowed.

HAWKER (GB) - (S Hitchcott): Stood flat-footed and lost ground. Approaching the winning post, shifted out to obtain clear running. JINTSHI (GB) - (R Mullen): Commenced awkwardly and lost ground. MAIN DE FER (GB) - (G Avranche): Slow to begin. Passing the winning post on the first occasion shifted in and bumped another runner MARXIAN (IRE) - (P Cosgrave): Passing the winning post on the first occasion became unbalanced when bumped by another runner. Approaching the 800 metres, was tightened for room by another runner and lost ground. Gave ground quickly from the 800 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be bleeding from both nostrils. Acting under the provisions of ERA Rule 21B(a)&(e), Trainer Mr H Al Alawi was notified that the horse would not be permitted to exercise train or race for a period of 21 clear days and following must complete a satisfactory gallop in the presence of the ERA stewards or veterinary officer. FIVEHUNDREDMILES (IRE) - (S Davis): Shifted in abruptly at the start and hampered another runner. Near the 700 metres shifted out and bumped another runner. JUNUNEE (IRE) - (B Reis): Slow to begin. NALOUT (USA) - (D Redmond): Near the 700 metres, when weakening was checked when tightened for room between other runners. General: Jockey B Reis (JUNUNEE (IRE)) was reprimanded for carless riding under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i) for permitting his mount to shift in passing the 800 metres and tightening the running of MARXIAN (IRE)(P Cosgrave). Stewards noted that MARXIAN (IRE) had commenced to weaken and the evidence tendered by P Cosgrave, that he eased at that point of the race in anticipation that he might be tightened for room on a weakening horse. Apprentice S Davis (FIVEHUNDREDMILES (IRE)) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i), for permitting his mount to shift out approaching the 700 metres when not sufficiently clear of NALOUT (USA)(D Redmond), resulting in that filly being tightened for room and having to be checked. S Davis had his license to ride in races suspended for 2 race meetings (Jebel Ali 01.12.2017 & Abu Dhabi 03.12.2017). In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account S Davis’s guilty plea, good race riding record and deemed the incident to be in the mid-range.
