The start of this race was delayed by approximately 10 minutes due to UNITE THE CLANS (IRE) needing to be captured. BALLAD SINGER (GB) - (P Dobbs): Hampered shortly after the start. DUBAWI'S THUNDER (GB) - (L Tarentaal): A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have blood in its mouth. UNITE THE CLANS (IRE) - (S Hitchcott): On the way to the barrier dislodged its rider, galloped for some distance and running through the running rail, before being captured. Stewards ordered the late withdrawal of UNITE THE CLANS (IRE) at 6:01pm. A subsequent veterinary examination of UNITE THE CLANS (IRE) revealed superficial lacerations to the left fore-leg and left hind-legs. Trainer Mr S Seemar was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding regarding its pre-race manners. MINIATURIST (FR) - (J Egan): Eased out of the race near the 700 metres. When questioned, the rider explained MINIATURIST (FR) had knocked itself rounding the home turn and felt amiss. He added for this reason he eased MINIATURIST (FR) out of the race, however on return to the parade ring, the gelding appeared normal in its action. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities, however an endoscopic examination revealed a degree of EIPH which may have affected its performance. SKYGAZER (IRE) - (T O'Shea): Commenced awkwardly. BROADCLOTH (USA) - (P Cosgrave): Near 200 metres bumped by another runner. GODREVY (USA) - (J Santiago): On jumping shifted in and bumped another runner. AMAAN (USA) - (P Sirigu): On jumping bumped by another runner and lost ground. KALKRAND (IRE) - (F Jara): On jumping shifted in and hampered another runner. Near the 1800 metres eased when tightened for room. HELLO (IRE) - (H Bentley): Near the 200 metres shifted out and bumped another runner. General: Prior to the declaration of correct weight, the rider of the second placegetter, P Cosgrave (BROADCLOTH (USA)) lodged an objection against HELLO (IRE)(H Bentley) being declared the winner, alleging interference over the final 300 metres. On the video evidence it was established that near the 200 metres HELLO (IRE) shifted out and bumped BROADCLOTH (USA). Stewards noted the degree of interference, the margin of a short head and where the interference took place, however were not satisfied that had the interference not taken place that BROADCLOTH (USA) would have beaten HELLO (IRE). As a result the protest was dismissed and correct weight declared on the judge’s original placings.
