Due to KAHAYLA GHANTOOT (AE) being difficult to load, the start of this race was delayed by approximately 2 minutes. AF MO'ASSESS (AE) - (A Fresu): Slow to begin. Rider reported that near the 1100 metres was obliged to ease off heels. ES KRAM (AE) - (A Al Siyabi): Rider reported that near the 1100 metres horse had a tendency to shift ground. MOQDAM (AE) - (H Bentley): Slow to begin. MU'TAMAD W'RSAN (AE) - (A McLean): Bumped on jumping. ZED AL RIH (AE) - (S Al Balushi): Slow to begin. KAHAYLA GHANTOOT (AE) - (R Mullen): Difficult to load. Commenced awkwardly and bumped another runner. Trainer Mr A Al Shamsi was advised that prior to the mare entering to race again, it must complete one satisfactory stalls test. Hung out rounding the home turn. MH REYAH E'SHEMAL (AE) - (J Santiago): Slow to begin. Near the 100 metres tightened for room and lost ground. Lay out under pressure in the straight. MORJANAH AL REEF (AE) - (F Jara): Marginally slow to begin. General: Stewards inquired into the reason for MH REYAH E'SHEMAL (AE) being restrained and losing ground near the 1100 metres. On the available evidence it was reported that AF MO'ASSESS (AE) (A Fresu) when over-racing shifted off the heels of another runner and ES KRAM (AE) (A Al Siyabi) shifted ground despite the efforts of its rider. Riders A Fresu and A Al Siyabi were notified that due to the lack of video evidence each rider was given the benefit of the doubt in regards to their contribution to this incident, and as a result were advised to exercise more care in the future.

Stewards' Reports for Sadeem
The start of the race was delayed as there was a power outage in the Stewards and scales area of the grandstand. Stewards considered postponing the race, however due to the photo finish still being in operation and all the horses being placed into the barriers, Stewards allowed the race to proceed. TAHANY (FR) - (G Avranche): Raced ungenerously in the early stages. SAARAH (FR) - (H Bentley): Slow to begin. GARNISHH (US) - (B Doyle): Slow into stride. In the early part of the straight lay out under pressure. NARJES (FR) - (R Mullen): Raced tight inside other runners near the 600 metres. General: Jockey T O’Shea (BAINOONA (FR)) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i), the particulars being that he permitted his mount to shift out approaching the winning post, taking GARNISHH (US) (B Doyle) outwards and resulting in that filly clipping the heels of another runner and stumbling. T O’Shea had his license to ride in races suspended for 2 race-meetings (Jebel Ali 23.3.18 & Meydan 31.3.18). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account T O’Shea’s riding record this season, his guilty plea and deemed the interference to be in the mid-range.

AF AL BOKHT (AE) - (A Fresu): Restrained off heels when tightened for room by another runner near the 1000 metres. AF LAOWAHAH (AE) - (S De Sousa): Bumped on jumping. AF SEUFI (AE) - (J Rosales): Near the 1300 metres IBN HARMANY AL ZOBAIR (AE) - (T O'Shea): Restrained off heels and lost ground near the 1000 metres. ES MAYDAN (AE) - (R Smithers): Bumped by another runner near 300 metres. Hampered near 100 metres. AL EID (AE) - (A McLean): Commenced awkwardly and lost ground. AZ LAHEEB (AE) - (S Al Balushi): Taken in by another runner near the 1000 metres. Lay out under pressure in the straight. RASHA AL LAZAZ (AE) - (G Mešetovic): Slow to begin. AF GADEER (AE) - (A Al Siyabi): Near the 1300 metres shifted in and bumped another runner. Taken in by another runner near the 1000 metres. GAFEL (AE) - (R Mullen): Slow to begin. THA'ER (AE) - (B Doyle): Hampered and lost ground near the 1000 metres. AS ANSAM (AE) - (B Pinheiro): Shifted out on jumping and bumped another runner. Shifted in near the 1000 metres and tightened another runner. Taken out off its line by another runner for the majority of the straight. Bumped near 300 metres. General: Prior to correct weight Mohd Ramadan, Trainer of fifth place-getter ES MAYDAN (AE) (R Smithers) lodged an objection against third place-getter AS ANSAM (AE) (B Pinheiro) alleging interference in the straight. It was established that near the 300 metres AZ LAHEEB (AE) laid out under pressure, forcing AS ANSAM (AE) out and bumping ES MAYDAN (AE) which lost ground. Near the 100 metres AS ANSAM (AE) again shifted out away from AZ LAHEEB (AE) and hampered ES MAYDAN (AE). On the evidence Stewards were satisfied that interference in the straight to ES MAYDAN (AE) was not solely the fault of AS ANSAM (AE) as that horse was in turn being interfered with by AZ LAHEEB (AE). Taking into account the margin of 2.25 lengths between the two runners at the finishing line, Stewards dismissed the protest and declared correct weight. Additionally Stewards were of the opinion that an objection against AZ LAHEEB (AE) by either AS ANSAM (AE) or ES MAYDAN (AE) would not be successful due to the respective beaten margins on the line, therefore did not enter an objection on behalf of connections prior to correct weight. Jockey A Al Siyabi (AF SANAD (AE)) was found in breach of ERA Rule 69B(a) in that he used his whip to excess, having struck his mount on 17 occasions, 5 more than permitted under the Rules. In considering an appropriate penalty Stewards took into account the following: • Grossness of the breach • He won the race by a short margin (head) • This was A Al Siyabi’s fourth breach of this whip Rule this season, having previously incurred penalties of AED 1,000, AED 3,000 and a 1 day suspension and AED 4,800 fine. A Al Siyabi was suspended for 2 racemeetings (Jebel Ali 23.3.18 & Meydan 31.3.18), fined the sum of AED 7500 (equal to his winning percentage plus 50% penalty) and further advised that he will need to front the Steward’s panel before being issued with a licence for the 2018/19 UAE racing season. Stewards inquired into the reason for IBN HARMANY AL ZOBAIR (AE) being restrained and losing ground near the 1000 metres. On the available footage it was established that near the 1000 metres AS ANSAM (AE) (B Pinheiro) shifted in slightly taking AF GADEER (AE) in onto AZ LAHEEB (AE), which in turn shifted in away from that gelding, resulting in AF AL BOKHT (AE) having to ease to avoid AZ LAHEEB’S (AE) heels. As a result, IBN HARMANY AL ZOBAIR (AE), which was following AF AL BOKHT (AE), was restrained off that mares heels resulting in THA’ER (AE) being hampered. When considering the appropriate action, Stewards were of the view that although the initial shift inwards from AS ANSAM (AE) was minimal it resulted in a number of other runners being interfered with. However due to a lack of available video footage Stewards were not satisfied to the requisite standard that a charge of careless riding could be sustained against B Pinheiro, therefore he was issued with a reprimand and advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in future. Apprentice S Al Balushi (AZ LAHEEB (AE)) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i), the particulars being that near the 300 metres he permitted his mount to shift outwards taking AS ANSAM (AE) off it’s line for some distance, resulting in ES MAYDAN (AE) having to ease off that mare’s heels, and further, continuing to allow his mount to shift out in the straight resulting in AS ANSAM (AE) again being forced wider on the track and ES MAYDAN being hampered near the 100 metres. Apprentice S Al Balushi had his license to ride in races suspended for 2 race-meetings (Jebel Ali 23.3.18 & Meydan 31.3.18). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account apprentice Al Balushi’s riding record this season, his guilty plea and deemed the interference to be in the mid-range.

ASEYL (FR) - (R Mullen): Commenced awkwardly. General: Stewards inquired into the reason for MAYSSON (FR) (G Avranche) being restrained near the 1100 metres. On the evidence and available footage it was established that AF THALLAH (AE) (E Chaves), when racing ungenerously, jumped a grass patch on the track near the 1100 metres and shifted in abruptly, resulting in MAYSSON (FR) being restrained and throwing its head in the air. In determining the appropriate action to take Stewards were satisfied that E Chaves made an effort to correct his mount after AF THALLAH (AE) commenced to shift ground and that MAYSSON (FR) over-reacted when being restrained, therefore this interference was reported as a racing incident.
