GOOD CRAIC (GB) - (B Reis): Raced wide without cover throughout. MEDIA MACHINE (GB) - (J Egan): Slow to begin. OCEAN BLUFF (USA) - (J Rosales): Was extremely fractious in the stalls. Trainer Ms. M Ritchie was advised that prior to the gelding entering to race again, it must complete one satisfactory stalls test. PALEOLITHIC (IRE) - (R Mullen): Bumped passing the 200 metres by another runner. PERSIUS (USA) - (G Mešetovic): Near the 500 metres, had to shift out to avoid a weakening runner. RUSSIAN MINER (USA) - (P Dobbs): On return to scale, the rider reported that the gelding had a tendency to lay out under pressure in the straight. TADWEEN (IRE) - (A de Vries): Slow to begin. Near the 500 metres, had to be checked off the heels of another runner which shifted out when avoiding a weakening runner. LEAP OF HOPE (USA) - (T O'Shea): After being loaded in to the barrier, became extremely fractious before dislodging its rider and flipping over. Acting on veterinary advice that the filly was unsuitable to race, the Stewards ordered the late withdrawal of LEAP OF HOPE (USA) at 7:41pm. A subsequent veterinary examination on return to the receiving barn revealed no abnormalities. Trainer Mr A Al Rayhi was advised that prior to the filly entering to race again, it must complete two satisfactory stalls tests. LOYAL SOLDIER (USA) - (A Fresu): Shifted in on jumping and raced erratically in the early stages.

NATHR (USA) - (D O'Neill): When questioned regarding the performance of the horse, the rider explained that NATHR (USA) appeared short in its action rounding the home turn and for this reason did not ride the horse out in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. GRAND ARGENTIER (FR) - (P Dobbs): When questioned regarding the performance of the horse, the rider explained that GRAND ARGENTIER (FR) was dropping back in distance and for this reason was unable to obtain a forward position as he would have liked. He further added that due to racing further back, GRAND ARGENTIER (FR) resented the kickback. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. HORNSBY (GB) - (R Ffrench): Shifted out abruptly on jumping and lost ground. Over-raced in the middle stages. CROSS GRAIN (IRE) - (R Mullen): Commenced awkwardly. Approaching the first turn commenced to weaken and near the 800 metres collapsed, dislodging its rider. CROSS GRAIN (IRE) suffered a severe bleeding attack and died. SHARP DEFENCE (USA) - (S Davis): Slow to begin. DIRECT MESSAGE (USA) - (T O'Shea): Jumped out awkwardly. AJRAAM (USA) - (F Jara): Raced wide without cover throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. MILTON (USA) - (A de Vries): Shifted out on jumping and bumped another runner. SECRET AMBITION (GB) - (P Cosgrave): Raced wide without cover throughout. TRENCHES (USA) - (T O'Shea): Shifted in on jumping and bumped another runner. When questioned regarding the performance of the filly, the rider explained that the MIDNIGHT CHICA (USA) became upset in the stalls and stumbled on jumping and was never travelling thereafter. BLUFF (USA) - (C O'Donoghue): Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed suitable to race. Slow to begin. Travelled wide without cover for the majority of the race. NOLOHAY (IRE) - (D O'Neill): Shifted out on jumping and bumped another runner. INTERCONNECTION (GB) - (R Ffrench): Bumped on jumping and tightened for room shortly after. TRIED AND TRUE (USA) - (F Jara): Slow to begin. Travelled wide without cover for the majority of the race. JAAREF (IRE) - (P Sirigu): Passing the winning post on first occasion, had to be restrained when tightened for room. General: Jockey C O'Donoghue (BLUFF (USA)) was reprimanded under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(c)(vii) for hitting his mount continuously without giving it a chance to respond. Jockey P Dobbs (ACTIVE SPIRIT (IRE)) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i), for permitting his mount to shift in passing the winning post on first occasion when insufficiently clear of JAAREF (IRE)(P Sirigu), resulting in that gelding having to be restrained. P Dobbs had his license to ride in races suspended for 2 race meetings (Al Ain 16.12.2017 & Abu Dhabi 17.12.2017). In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account P Dobbs’ guilty plea, good careless riding record and deemed the interference to be in the low range.
