CARBON DATING (IRE) - (T O'Shea): Lay out in the early part of the straight. GOLD STAR (GB) - (C Soumillon): Bumped on jumping. Approaching the 300 metres improved onto the heels of another runner and bumped heavily with another runner. JANSZOON (GB) - (S De Sousa): Shifted in on jumping and bumped another runner. Approaching the 300 metres bumped heavily with another runner. LINGUISTIC (IRE) - (X Ziani): Slow to begin. PROPOSED (GB) - (A Atzeni): Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after having blood in its mount and passed suitable to race. WALTON STREET (GB) - (W Buick): Commenced awkwardly and shifted out. Travelled wide without cover for the majority of the race. EYNHALLOW (GB) - (M Barzalona): Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages. Approaching the 300 metres had to be steadied when held up for a clear run and then shifted inwards to obtain clear running. General: Stewards inquired into the reason for GOLD STAR (GB)(C Soumillon) and JANSZOON (GB)(S De Sousa) bumping heavily approaching the 300 metres. On the evidence and available footage it was established that JANSZOON (GB) was taken out slightly by CARBON DATING (IRE)(T O'Shea), resulting in that gelding bumping heavily with GOLD STAR (GB)(C Soumillon), which had improved up onto the heels of PROPOSED (GB)(A Atzeni). Taking into account the evidence of C Soumillon that he was not attempting a run to the inside of PROPOSED (GB) and that the run only presented itself because PROPOSED (GB) shifted out marginally, the Stewards did not attribute blame to any one rider and therefore no action was taken other than to advise all riders to exercise more care in a similar situation. Jockey S De Sousa (JANSZOON (GB)) was reprimanded under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(a) for using the whip to excess, in that he used it on 15 occasions.
