GRAND ARGENTIER (FR) - (T O'Shea): Travelled wide without cover in the early part of the race. STORM BELT (USA) - (F Jara): Bumped on jumping. GALVANIZE (USA) - (P Dobbs): Shifted in on jumping and bumped another runner. MONTSARRAT (IRE) - (M Barzalona): Shifted out on jumping and bumped another runner. Passing the winning post on first occasion, had to be checked when tightened for room. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of the gelding, the rider explained that MONTSARRAT (IRE) was unsuited to not being able to lead the event. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities, however an endoscopic examination revealed a degree of EIPH which may have affected its performance. SPARRING (IRE) - (G Mosse): Slow to begin and bumped on jumping. DEHBASHI (USA) - (S Hitchcott): On jumping shifted in and bumped another runner. STREET OF DREAMS (GB) - (A de Vries): When questioned regarding the improved performance of the horse, the Trainer Mr D Watson explained that STREET OF DREAMS (GB) is better suited to racing on dirt compared to its last start which was on turf. SEA SKIMMER (GB) - (P Cosgrave): Raced wide without cover from the 1200 metres. ORMINDO (USA) - (S De Sousa): Bumped on jumping. MAZEED (USA) - (R Mullen): Commenced awkwardly. General: Jockey P Dobbs (GALVANIZE (USA)) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i) for permitting his mount to shift in passing the winning post on the first occasion when insufficiently clear of MONTSARRAT (IRE)(M Barzalona), which was tightened for room and had to be checked. P Dobbs had his license to ride in races suspended for 2 race-meetings (Meydan 17.2.18 & Abu Dhabi 18.2.18). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account his guilty plea, that his suspension incorporated a Meydan carnival meeting and that the interference was in the mid-range.

WAQQAD (USA) - (O Murphy): Shifted in on jumping and bumped another runner. On straightening was bumped and become unbalanced. ZAMAN (GB) - (W Buick): Shifted out on jumping and bumped another runner. On straightening shifted out and bumped another runner. General: Jockey S Levey (TANGLED (IRE)) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i) for shifting in near the 1100 metres when insufficiently clear of COZMO STAR (IRE)(J Quinn), which was tightened for room and had to be checked and then he continued to shift inwards and tighten the running of PICTURE NO SOUND (IRE)(S Hitchcott), which had to be restrained. S Levey had his license to ride in races suspended for 2 race-meetings (Meydan 17.2.18 & Abu Dhabi 18.2.18). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account S Levey’s guilty plea, the evidence he provided regarding is good careless riding record in the UK, that he will be suspended for a Meydan carnival meeting and that the carelessness was in the mid-range. Jockey G Mosse (ROLAND ROCKS (IRE)) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i) for permitting his mount to shift in near the 1000 metres when insufficiently clear of WASIM (IRE)(A De Vries), which was tightened for room and had to be restrained. G Mosse had his license to ride in races suspended for 2 race-meetings (Meydan 17.2.18 & Abu Dhabi 18.2.18). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account that he will be suspended for a Meydan carnival meeting and a riding commitment in Hong Kong. The carelessness was deemed to be in the mid-range. Stewards inquired into the reason for WAQQAD (USA)(O Murphy) being bumped and becoming unbalanced shortly after straightening. On the evidence and available footage it was established that shortly after straightening ZAMAN (GB)(W Buick) shifted out from behind TANGLED (IRE)(S Levey), when attempting to get clear running and in doing so bumped WAQQAD (USA), which became unbalanced. Stewards noted the evidence of jockey O Murphy (WAQQAD (USA)) who stated that he was commencing to weaken and rolled in slightly on entering the straight. Jockey W Buick was issued with a reprimand under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i) for careless riding.
