FAATINAH (AUS) - (J Crowley): Commenced awkwardly. BACCARAT (IRE) - (W Buick): Commenced awkwardly. Raced ungenerously in the early part of the straight when being restrained. STEADY PACE (GB) - (C Soumillon): On the way to the barrier at the request of its rider, STEADY PACE (GB) was examined by the veterinarian and deemed unsuitable to race. Acting on veterinary advice, the Stewards ordered the late withdrawal of STEADY PACE (GB) at 6:26 pm. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the left fore-leg. Trainer Mr S bin Suroor was advised that prior to the gelding being entered to race again, he must provide a veterinary certificate of fitness for STEADY PACE (GB). SIR MAXIMILIAN (IRE) - (T O'Shea): Underwent a veterinary examination prior to the race meeting, due to racing on the 15th of February 2018 at Meydan and was deemed suitable to race.

BAROOT (GB) - (C Soumillon): Commenced awkwardly. Lay in under pressure in the straight. GOOD TRIP (IRE) - (T O'Shea): Travelled wide without cover in the middle stages. Approaching the 300 metres was taken inwards by another runner. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of the horse, the rider explained that GOOD TRIP (IRE) travelled well in the early and middle stages, however when placed under pressure in the straight failed to respond to his riding. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. PUPIL (IRE) - (P Cosgrave): Approaching the 300 metres shifted out before being straightened by its rider. ARMY BULLETIN (IRE) - (X Ziani): Commenced awkwardly and lost ground. PILLAR OF SOCIETY (IRE) - (S Hitchcott): Raced ungenerously in the early part of the race. AZMAAM (IRE) - (J Rosales): Slow to begin. MUJEEB (GB) - (A Fresu): Raced ungenerously in the middle stages. Approaching the 300 metres had to be steadied when tightened for room. TAFAAKHOR (IRE) - (J Crowley): Travelled wide without cover in the early and middle stages. HARCOURT STREET (USA) - (A de Vries): Slow to begin. Approaching the 300 metres was tightened for room between runners. BANNOCK (IRE) - (S De Sousa): Slow to begin. ABOVE NORMAL (GB) - (R Mullen): Slow to begin. General: Stewards inquired into the reason for HARCOURT STREET (USA)(A de Vries) being tightened for room and MUJEEB (GB)(A Fresu) having to be steadied approaching the 300 metres. On the evidence and available footage, it was established that at approaching the 300 metres PUPIL (IRE)(P Cosgrave) shifted out momentarily tightening the running of HARCOURT STREET (USA), which was tightened for room and shifted out onto MUJEEB (GB), resulting in that gelding having to be steadied. Also at this stage of the race BAROOT (GB)(C Soumillon) shifted in quickly when under pressure, resulting in GOOD TRIP (IRE)(T O’Shea) being taken inwards slightly and also tightening the running of MUJEEB (GB) and HARCOURT STREET (USA). Stewards noted that Jockey P Cosgrave straightened his mount soon after shifting ground and that the interference was due to two horses shifting ground at the same time. As a result, both P Cosgrave and C Soumillon were advised to exercise more care in a similar situation.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of the gelding, the rider explained that BRAVO ZOLO (IRE) never travelled well throughout and resented the kickback having its first start on dirt. COSMO CHARLIE (USA) - (S Hitchcott): Shifted out on jumping and bumped another runner. RICHARD PANKHURST (GB) - (X Ziani): Bumped on jumping. On return to scale the rider reported that the horse hung right throughout. NOBELIUM (USA) - (R Mullen): Travelled wide without cover in the early and middle stages. General: Jockey B Fayd'Herbe (FANTASTIC FOUR (ARG)) was fined AED 1000 under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(a) for using the whip to excess in that he used it on 18 occasions.
