YULONG WARRIOR (USA) - (R Mullen): Approaching the winning post on first occasion, shifted out and bumped on a number of occasions with another runner. GOTTI (USA) - (A Fresu): Shifted out on jumping and bumped another runner, losing ground. Passing the 1800 metres had to be checked when tightened for room. Near the 1400 metres raced ungenerously for a short distance. Lost its right fore-plate during the race. On return to scale, the rider advised that the colt hung right throughout. RUA AUGUSTA (USA) - (H Bentley): Bumped on jumping. Passing the 1800 metres bumped another runner and then shifted in bumping another runner. LAST VOYAGE (USA) - (M Barzalona): Slow to begin and bumped shortly after. On straightening shifted in and bumped another runner. ROY ORBISON (ARG) - (T O'Shea): Shifted in on jumping and bumped another runner. WAQQAD (USA) - (A Atzeni): Slow to begin. RACING COUNTRY (IRE) - (G Mosse): Bounded on jumping and lost ground. Passing the 1600 metres raced ungenerously for a short distance. MASAR (IRE) - (W Buick): Commenced awkwardly. When questioned regarding the performance of the colt, the rider explained that MASAR (IRE) felt uncomfortable from the 1000 metres and then stopped quickly when placed under pressure. He added that the colt had a tendency to hang out throughout the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the colt to be mildly lame in the left fore-leg, however an endoscopic examination revealed a degree of mucus which may have affected its performance. MUTAMAYEL (AUS) - (J Crowley): Commenced awkwardly and lost ground. On return to scale, the rider advised that the gelding slipped on jumping. EL CHAPO (GB) - (O Murphy): Travelled wide without cover in the early and middle stages. On straightening was bumped by another runner. General: Stewards inquired into the reason for GOTTI (USA)(A Fresu) having to be checked passing the 1800 metres. On the evidence and available footage, it was established that GOTTI (USA), which had been marginally slow to begin was tightened for room near the 1800 metres by RUA AUGUSTA (USA)(H Bentley) which shifted in. Stewards took into account the evidence of Jockey A Fresu that the colt had a tendency to hang outwards throughout. Jockey H Bentley was reprimanded under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i) for careless riding.
