KIDD MALIBU (USA) - (F Jara): Lost ground when tightened for room at the start. HAMMURABI (IRE) - (R Mullen): Slow to begin. SAY NO MORE (IRE) - (S Hitchcott): Fractious in the barrier prior to the start, commencing awkwardly and losing ground. Stewards questioned S Hitchcott in regards to his riding of the gelding, particularly in the early stages of the race, where SAY NO MORE (IRE) became detached from the field. S Hitchcott explained that he intended to take up a forward position on the gelding, however after being extremely fractious in the barrier prior to the start and commencing awkwardly, ultimately losing ground, he was obliged to settle further back than intended. He added that shortly after the start SAY NO MORE (IRE) failed to travel on the bit and resented the kickback. Further to this, his initial thoughts were that there may have been something amiss with the gelding, however after traveling further down the straight the action of SAY NO MORE (IRE) appeared to be normal. A post-race veterinary examination of SAY NO MORE (IRE) failed to reveal any abnormalities. Stewards advised S Hitchcott, that in their opinion he should have shown more vigor in the early stages of the race, to prevent the gelding getting as far back in the field as he did and he shouldn’t ride in a manner that leaves him open to questioning. FIDASLEMEI (IRE) - (P Sirigu): Shifted ground when racing ungenerously in the early stages. BAAREZ (USA) - (J Rosales): When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of the gelding, the rider explained that BAAREZ (USA) became tired over the concluding stages and for this reason commenced to give ground quickly. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. General: Rider J Bardottier (AJWAD (GB)) was fined AED 500 under the provisions of ERA Rule 57(iv) for failing to make the declared weight and having to be replaced by another rider.
