Other Comments / Explanations: On Sunday 25th November 2018, the ERA were notified that Apprentice A Al Balushi rode his 30th winner in Oman. As such his allowance was incorrectly published as claiming 3kg. A Al Balushi’s new allowance was 2.5kg and the trainers were advised of the change of allowance and a public announcement was made at the racecourse prior to A Al Balushi taking his rides. On Wednesday 21st November 2018, the weights were amended for Race 6 due to a clerical error by the Handicapper and the ERA in accordance with ERA Rule 18 (i)(a). All Trainers were advised regarding the amendment which required the horses to carry more weight than originally allotted. Race 1 - Baynounah - 1400 metres AF KAL NOOR (AE) - (T O'Shea): Near the 400 metres was taken outwards by another runner. AF MOZHELL (AE) - (B Pinheiro): While parading behind the barrier was kicked by another runner and underwent a veterinary examination, being deemed suitable to race. Passing the 400 metres shifted out and away from another runner and bumped another runner. AL NAYAF (AE) - (A Al Balushi): Near the 400 metres shifted out and brushed another runner. Shifted out under pressure in the straight. JAP AL AFREET (AE) - (B Doyle): Passing the 400 metres was bumped by another runner. MUSTAJEEB (AE) - (J Santiago): Began awkwardly. SAWWAN AL REEF (AE) - (F Jara): Commenced to hang out from the 500 metres and made the turn into the straight wide. SS JALMOD (AE) - (S Mazur): On jumping shifted out abruptly. Raced ungenerously in the early stages. AF TAHOONAH (AE) - (R Mullen): Slow to begin. AL SHAHEENYA (AE) - (F Veron): Tightened for room on jumping and lost ground.

BILLINGSGATE (IRE) - (B Curtis): Began awkwardly and lost ground. BERKSHIRE BOY (IRE) - (W Lee): Slow to begin. HARCOURT STREET (USA) - (R Mullen): Raced wide without cover from the 1000 metres. MIDNIGHT CHICA (USA) - (C Hayes): After arriving on course it was reported that the filly had become fractious in the horse box, resulting in MIDNIGHT CHICA (USA) becoming cast. As a result MIDNIGHT CHICA (USA) was deemed unsuitable to race on veterinary grounds and was declared a late withdrawal at 3:15 pm. Trainer Mr N Bachalard was advised that prior to the filly being entered to race again, he must provide a veterinary certificate of fitness for MIDNIGHT CHICA (USA) BIRMANO (USA) - (O Doleuze): Began awkwardly and lost ground. Eased down by its rider in the straight. Acting under the provisions of ERA Rule 21B(a)&(e), Trainer Mr S Seemar was notified that the gelding would not be permitted to exercise, train or race for a period of 21 days, and following must complete a satisfactory gallop in the presence of the ERA stewards or veterinary officer. THE NEW MAHARAJA (USA) - (T O'Shea): Fractious to the barrier prior to the start. Slow to begin and lost ground. Trainer Mr S Seemar was advised that prior to the gelding entering to race again, it must complete one satisfactory stalls test.

Underwent a veterinary examination and passed suitable to race. MAJD AL GHARBIA (AE) - (J Santiago): Lay out under pressure from the 200 metres. SHAWLAH (AE) - (Z Xiani): When questioned regarding the performance of the filly, the rider explained that shortly after the start he lost the use of his left side iron and that SHAWLAH (AE) had a tendency to hang right throughout. He added that after racing in a forward position the filly gave ground rounding the home turn when placed under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. RAEED MUSCAT (OM) - (A Al Balushi): Raced wide without cover from the 1000 metres. AF SAAB (AE) - (T O'Shea): Over-raced in the early stages. DORA AL MELS (FR) - (B Curtis): Began awkwardly and lost ground. OPTIMIZM (US) - (F Jara): Slow to begin. General: Jockey C Beasley (DORA AL MELS (FR)) was fined AED 500 under the provisions of ERA Rule 57(iv) for failing to make the declared weight and having to be replaced by another rider. Apprentice A Al Balushi (RAEED MUSCAT (OM)) was reprimanded under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(a) for using the whip to excess, in that he used it on 14 occasions. Stewards took into account that this was A Al Balushi’s first breach of this Rule for the season.
