heels of another runner. KASEB (FR) - (W Lee): Slow to begin. SADEQ AL WAAD (US) - (P Dobbs): Hung out rounding the home-turn. AS SHOUKA (AE) - (N Parmar): Approaching the 900 metres had to be restrained when racing tight between other runners. GANESH D'AILLAS (FR) - (R Scott): Bumped on jumping by another runner. Near the 700 metres brushed the running rail. OCTAVE (US) - (F Jara): On jumping bumped with another runner. AMIRAH AL MELS (FR) - (J Santiago): Commenced awkwardly. FLORETTE DE FAUST (FR) - (S Hitchcott): Commenced awkwardly. OPERA (US) - (B Pinheiro): Raced wide without cover throughout. General: Stewards inquired into the reason for AS SHOUKA (AE)(N Parmar) having to be restrained and losing ground approaching the 900 metres. On the evidence and available footage it was established that approaching the 900 metres AS SHOUKA (AE) was tightened for room by OCTAVE (US)(F Jara), which shifted in when racing ungenerously and tight to the inside of KALID (FR). This resulted in AS SHOUKA (AE) having to be restrained. Stewards noted the racing manners of OCTAVE (US) and accordingly took no action other than to remind all riders to exercise more care in a similar situation. Jockey P Cosgrave (EGHEL DE PINE (IT)) was reprimanded under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(c)(i) for hitting his mount in front of the saddle whilst holding the whip in the forehand. Stewards took into account that this was P Cosgrave’s first breach of this Rule for the season.

The start of this race was delayed by approximately 16 minutes, due to the barriers having to be repaired following the incident in which caused the delay in Race 4. The barriers were subsequently tested on several occasions to ensure their functionality was intact prior to runners arriving at the start. AF AL WOJOOD (AE) - (E Chaves): Shortly after the start the rider lost use of his right side iron, placing him at a disadvantage for a short distance. AF MOMTAZ (AE) - (B Curtis): On return to scale the rider advised that the horse hung left throughout. RB GOLIATH (US) - (W Lee): Bumped on jumping. Bumped and became unbalanced near the 800 metres. Approaching the 400 metres had to be steadied when racing close to the heels of another runner. AF MEGHWAAR (AE) - (F Jara): Raced wide without cover throughout. NOOF KB (FR) - (T O'Shea): Raced wide without cover throughout. HAWAFEZ (AE) - (C Beasley): Bumped on jumping. Was held up for clear running from 600 metres until passing the 400 metres. AF AL ASEF (AE) - (A Fresu): Over-raced in the early stages. Approaching the 1200 metres, when over-racing had to be steadied when racing in restricted room amongst runners. Near the 900 metres had to be restrained when racing in restricted room between other runners. Near the 800 metres bumped by another runner. SHAWLAH (AE) - (J Santiago): On return to scale the rider advised that the filly pulled up lame. A post-race veterinary examination revealed SHAWLAH (AE) to be lame in the right fore-leg and to be suffering from tendonitis. Trainer Mr R bin Attia was advised that prior to the filly being entered to race again, he must provide a veterinary certificate of fitness for SHAWLAH (AE). General: Stewards inquired into the reason for AF HAKEEM (AE)(S Hitchcott) having to be restrained and losing ground approaching the 1300 metres. On the evidence and available footage it was established that approaching the 1300 metres AF HAKEEM (AE) had to be steadied when awkwardly placed in the inside off the heels of AL MUHALHAL AL THANI (AE)(S Al Balushi), which marginally shifted in and away from AF MOMTAZ (AE)(B Curtis). Stewards noted the racing manners off AL MUHALHAL AL THANI (AE) and that Apprentice S Al Balushi had attempted to prevent his mount from shifting ground and thus took no action other than to remind him to exercise care when in a similar situation. Stewards inquired to the reason for RB GOLIATH (US)(W Lee) having to be steadied approaching the 400 metres. On the evidence and the available footage it was established that approaching the 400 metres AF AL WOJOOD (AE)(E Chaves) shifted out off the heels of AF MEGHWAAR (AE)(F Jara), which had commenced to weaken. As a result of AF AL WOJOOD (AE) shifting out, RB GOLIATH (US) had to be steadied when being awkwardly placed onto the heels of RB GOLIATH (US). Stewards were of the view that the interference could not be attributed to any one rider, as such no action was taken other than to advise all riders to exercise more care in a similar situation.
