The start of this race was delayed by 3 minutes due to the incident with PALEOLITHIC (IRE). COZMO STAR (IRE) - (S Brown): On return to scale the rider reported that the colt hung right rounding the turn. DIRILIS ERTUGRUL (USA) - (F Veron): Raced wide without cover in the early stages before settling outside the leader near the 900 metres. Near the 250 metres when giving ground shifted out abruptly. IMPRISON (FR) - (P Convertino): Hung left under pressure in the straight. KALAMAZOO (USA) - (A McLean): Momentarily held up for clear running near the 400 metres. KILLDEER (IRE) - (R Mullen): Slow to begin. When queried regarding the performance of the colt, the rider could offer no real explanation other than after being slow to begin he settled further back than he had intended. MUWAALY (GB) - (A de Vries): Held up for clear running approaching the 300 metres. PALEOLITHIC (IRE) - (T O'Shea): Dislodged its rider on route to the barrier galloping rider-less for a short distance. After being captured underwent a pre-race veterinary examination before being passed suitable to start. SARTORIAL (IRE) - (A Fresu): Slow to begin then failed to muster speed in the early stages. Trailed the field throughout the event before being eased down by its rider near the 400 metres. As a post-race veterinary examination revealed a suspected pelvis injury, SATORIAL (IRE) was transferred to hospital for further assessment. After a further examination SATORIAL (IRE) was humanly euthanized. TORNO SUBITO (IRE) - (P Dobbs): Disappointed for clear running behind runners near the 300 metres WHITE SKY (IRE) - (P Cosgrave): Stood flat footed missing the start by 2 lengths.
