Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination before being passed suitable to take its place within the field. Commenced awkwardly. On return to scale the rider stated the mare never travelled well throughout and failed to respond to his to his riding when placed under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be mildly lame in the right fore-leg. AF AL SAJANJLE (AE) - (T O'Shea): Raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages. CHEIK ROQUE (FR) - (A Fresu): Slow to begin. RB SMOKIN RICH (US) - (B Pinheiro): Hung left under pressure in the straight. RB TORCH (US) - (F Veron): Raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. AF MARRAH (AE) - (O Doleuze): Bumped on jumping. GOSHAWKE (US) - (F Jara): On route to the barrier dislodged its rider before being re-captured. On arrival at the barrier underwent a pre-race veterinary examination before being passed suitable to take its place within the field. Rider was examined by the on-course medical staff and was passed fit to ride. Bumped on jumping. Raced wide without cover throughout. General: Jockey T O’Shea (AF AL SAJANLE (AE)) was fined AED 1000 under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(a) for using the whip to excess, in that he used it on 13 occasions. In determining penalty Stewards took into account that this was T O’Shea’s second breach of this Rule this season.

IRISH TRILOGY (IRE) - (C Lopez): Raced wide without cover in the middle stages. SPORTING CHANCE (GB) - (P Cosgrave): Commenced awkwardly losing ground. Over-raced in the early stages. Approaching the 1000 metres when over-racing was bumped on the hind-quarter becoming unbalanced. When questioned regarding the performance of the colt, the rider stated that after not being well, SPORTING CHANCE (GB) ran too freely and as a result failed to run on in the straight when placed under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. ESTIHDAAF (USA) - (C Soumillon): On return to scale the rider explained that ESTIHDAAF (USA) was under pressure throughout the race and stumbled on turn prior to straightening. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the colt to be mildly lame in the right fore-leg. WOVEN (GB) - (J Crowley): Shortly after the start was bumped and had to be steadied off the heels of another runner. AL MORTAJAZ (FR) - (B Curtis): Raced keenly in the early stages. KING LOTHBROK (FR) - (C Beasley): Raced wide without cover in the middle stages. MNEEF (USA) - (M Barzalona): Shortly after the start was bumped on the hind-quarter becoming unbalanced. On return to scale the rider advised that the colt appeared to hold its breath during the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the colt to be mildly lame in the right fore-leg. DREAM WITH YOU (FR) - (A Fresu): On arrival at the barrier had its saddle re-adjusted. Commenced awkwardly. Near the 1000 metres had to be checked when tightened for room between runners. MAGIC IMAGE (GB) - (D Holland): Commenced awkwardly before being checked when tightened for room between runners which had shifted ground. Jockey C Lopez (IRISH TRILOGY (IRE)) was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i), particulars of the charge being that near the 1000 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of DREAM WITH YOU (FR)(A Fresu), which had to be checked when tightened for room between IRISH TRILOGY (IRE) and SPORTING CHANCE (GB)(P Cosgrave). C Lopez’s had his license to ride in races was suspended for two race meetings (Meydan 19.1.2.19 and Abu Dhabi 20.1.2019). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account C Lopez’s good careless riding record and deemed the carelessness to be in the low range.

DOLKONG (USA) - (P Cosgrave): Commenced awkwardly, shifted out and bumped another runner. Lost its right fore-plate in running. AFRICAN RIDE (GB) - (C Soumillon): Bumped on jumping. Over-raced in the early stages. Near the 1200 metres when the pace slackened, had to be steadied when over-racing and being placed in restricted room. HEAVY METAL (GB) - (M Barzalona): Commenced awkwardly before being carried in and hampered by another runner. Lost its left fore-plate in running. When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, the rider stated that HEAVEY METAL (GB) has to lead to perform at his best and after commencing awkwardly had to urge the gelding along in the early stages, which took its toll over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be mildly lame in the left fore-leg and it was noted that HEAVEY METAL (GB) also returned after the race without a left for plate. GOLD TOWN (GB) - (J Doyle): Raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages. Bumped near the 1200 metres by another runner. ETIJAAH (USA) - (D O'Neill): Slow to begin. General: Jockey C Soumillon (AFRICAN RIDE (GB)) was reprimanded under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(c)(vii) for using his whip in consecutive strides on 2 occasions. Stewards took into account that this was C Soumillon’s first breach of this rule for the season.

ACTIVE SPIRIT (IRE) - (T O'Shea): The tongue-tie of the gelding was refitted upon arrival at the barrier. Commenced awkwardly. Raced wide without cover throughout. Eased down by its rider from the 600 metres. When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, the rider stated that ACTIVE SPIRIT (IRE) has to lead to perform at his best, however today was extremely disappointing and wobbled over the concluding stages. Trainer Mr D Watson advised that ACTIVE SPIRATE (IRE) would now be retired from racing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have general soreness. GLASSY WATERS (USA) - (H Turner): Eased down and failed to finish the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be fracture lame in the left-hind leg. On return to scale the rider advised that the horse failed to face the kick-back in the early stages, however shortly after straightening went amiss behind. GLASSY WATERS (USA) was transported to the Dubai Equine Hospital for further assessment. Trainer Mr S bin Suroor was advised that prior to the horse being entered to race again, he must provide a certificate of fitness for GLASSY WATERS (USA). KEY BID (GB) - (F Jara): Was inclined to lay left under pressure in the straight. STREET OF DREAMS (GB) - (C Hayes): A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to have bled from both nostrils. Acting under the provisions of ERA Rule 21B(a)&(e), Trainer Mr D Watson was notified that the horse would not be permitted to exercise, train or race for a period of 21 days, and following must complete a satisfactory gallop in the presence of the ERA stewards or veterinary officer. SYPHAX (USA) - (R Ffrench): Commenced extremely awkwardly before failing to muster speed in the early stages and as a result trailed the field throughout. On return to scale the rider advised that the horse commenced awkwardly and never travelled well throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be lame in the left hind-leg and was transported to the Dubai Equine Hospital for further assessment. Trainer Mr S Jadhav was advised that prior to the horse being entered to race again, he must provide a veterinary certificate of fitness for SYPHAX (USA). TRIED AND TRUE (USA) - (S Hitchcott): Slow to begin before being steadied when tightened for room between runners. Raced wide without cover throughout. WELSH LORD (GB) - (R Scott): Bounded on jumping.

SILENT ATTACK (GB) - (C Soumillon): Lay left under pressure in the straight. ORIGINAL CHOICE (IRE) - (B Curtis): Commenced awkwardly. GM HOPKINS (GB) - (R Tart): Slow to begin. GOOD EFFORT (IRE) - (F Veron): Near the 1500 metres had to be steadied when racing in restricted room between other runners. TAAMOL (IRE) - (F Jara): Slow to begin. Shortly after the start bumped with another runner. Bumped on jumping. Dipped near the 700 metres. BAROOT (GB) - (A de Vries): Held up approaching and passing the 250 metres. Bumped with another runner near the 150 metres. ESHTIRAAK (AUS) - (J Crowley): Bumped with another runner near the 50 metres. ZAINHOM (USA) - (D O'Neill): Raced wide without cover in the early stages. Bumped by another runner near the 150 metres. BOLD REX (SAF) - (O Doleuze): Held up for clear running over the final 150 metres. Bumped and carried in by another runner near the 50 metres. CLIFFS OF CAPRI (GB) - (C Hayes): Bumped heavily on jumping. EQUITANT (GB) - (P Cosgrave): Near the 400 metres eased off the heels of another runner. ON THE WARPATH (GB) – (C O'Donoghue): Commenced awkwardly shifted out and bumped another runner. On return to scale, the rider advised that the gelding hung right throughout the race.
