AF MOSHREFAH (AE) - (B Curtis): Bumped and tightened for room near the 1000 metres. Shortly after commenced to over-race and hang left making the turn in the straight extremely wide. Approaching the 1000 metres bumped by another runner. AF MOUTHIRAH (AE) - (T O'Shea): Had a tendency to race ungenerously in the early stages. AL SHAHEENYA (AE) - (P Cosgrave): Slow to begin. JAP GABOUB (AE) - (C Hayes): On jumping shifted out and bumped heavily with another runner. Approaching the 1000 metres had to be checked when tightened for room, as a result being bumped and losing ground. JAP RAMAHAH (AE) - (E Chaves): Approaching the 1000 metres taken in by another runner. NAZAA (AE) - (F Veron): On jumping was bumped heavily by another runner. Near the 1000 metres had to be eased off the heels of another runner. Approaching the winning post raced in restricted room for a short distance. General: Stewards inquired into the reason for JAP GABOUB (AE)(C Hayes) being tightened for room near the 1000 metres and losing ground. At a subsequent enquiry Jockey T O’Shea (AF MOUTHIRAH (AE)) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i), in that approaching the 1000 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of JAP RAMAHAH (AE)(E Chaves), taking that filly inwards, resulting in JAP GABOUB (AE)(C Hayes) being tightened for room between JAP RAMAHAH (AE) and AF MOSHREFAH (AE)(B Curtis), being checked as a result. Jockey T O’Shea’s license to ride in races was suspended for 2 race meetings (Jebel Ali 28.12.18 and Sharjah 29.12.18). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account T O’Shea’s good careless riding record and the racing manners of his mount.

FURAT W'RSAN (AE) - (B Curtis): Saddle had to re-adjusted at the barrier. HAJJAR W'RSAN (AE) - (W Lee): After leaving the parade ring, dislodged its rider and galloped a considerable distance before being recaptured. Acting on this advice, Stewards ordered a late withdrawal of the colt at 6:29pm. OPTIMIZM (US) - (S Hitchcott): Slow to begin. RB LAM TARA (US) - (F Veron): Reared in the barrier and became cast. Acting on veterinary advice that the filly was unsuitable to race, Stewards ordered the late withdrawal RB LAM TARA (US) at 6:29pm. Trainer Mr E Lemartinel was advised that prior to the filly being entered to race again, it must complete one satisfactory stalls test. SAKEEBA (FR) - (R Mullen): Commenced awkwardly. General: Jockey A Fresu (RAYAAN KB (FR)) was fined AED 1000 under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(b) for improper use of the whip, in that near the 100 metres he made contact with the colt’s head.

AMEER AL REEF (AE) - (B Pinheiro): A routine post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality. EMIR DE CARRERE (FR) - (B Curtis): Commenced awkwardly and lost ground. SHIVAN OA (NL) - (W Lee): Approaching the wining post on the first occasion shifted out abruptly. CARLOS DE CARRERE (FR) - (S Mazur): Slipped over after being taken off the horse box. The Veterinarian queried the suitability of horse to race due to its unusual action. The Trainer and Owner gave evidence that CARLOS DE CARRERE (FR) always has an unusual gate at a trot, the horse was subsequently passed suitable to race. The jockey was advised that if he felt anything was amiss with CARLOS DE CARRERE (FR) when proceeding to the barriers, he should advise the officials immediately. Slow to muster speed in the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be lame in the left fore-leg. Trainer Mr Y Al Kalbani was advised that prior to the horse being entered to race again, he must provide a veterinary certificate of fitness for CARLOS DE CARRERE (FR). DREAM DE MONTJOI (FR) - (J Grzybowska): Slow to begin and bumped by another runner shortly after. Raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages. General: Jockey W Lee (SHIVAN OA (NL)) pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(a) for using the whip to excess, in that he used it on 13 occasions. W Lee’s license to ride in races was suspended for 3 race meetings (Meydan 3.1.19, Al Ain 4.1.2019 and Meydan 5.1.19). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account that this was W Lee’s sixth breach of the Rule this racing season, third suspension and repeated offending.

Approaching the winning post on the first occasion had to be restrained when tightened for room, after improving into a position where there was not sufficient room. On straightening was bumped by another runner before having to be eased off another runner’s heels. Rider reported that the colt pulled hard in the early stages. FITZSIMMONS (USA) - (F Jara): Bumped on jumping by another runner. Raced wide without cover throughout. General: Stewards inquired into the reason BERKSHIRE BOY (IRE)(W Lee) having to be eased when tightened for room approaching the 300 metres. It was established that BRASS RING (GB)(F Veron) had improved to a tight run to the inside of BERKSHIRE BOY (IRE) which had lay out, and in doing so bumped that colt outwards. At this point MUDAARAB (USA)(D O’Neill) shifted in marginally resulting in BERKSHIRE BOY (IRE) having to be eased to avoid that gelding’s heels. As Stewards did not believe that this incident could be attributed that any one rider, Stewards advised all riders to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.
