When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, the rider explained that GOLD TOWN (GB) did not travel well in the early stages due to the fast tempo of the race. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. HONORABLE TREASURE (USA) - (F Jara): Slow to begin. NINE BELOW ZERO (GB) - (A de Vries): Near the 1200 metres when racing keen, had to be eased when awkwardly placed close to the heels of another runner. AQABAH (USA) - (J Doyle): Scrambled on jumping. CONNECT (GB) - (C Beasley): Over-raced in the early stages. Raced wide without cover from the 900 metres. FIRST NATION (GB) - (W Buick): Near the 50 metres brushed with another runner. OASIS CHARM (GB) - (B Doyle): Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Near the 50 metres brushed with another runner. On return to scale the rider reported that the gelding hung left throughout the race. TEAM TALK (GB) - (P Cosgrave): Slow to begin. General: Correct weight was delayed to allow Jockey C Soumillon (RACING HISTORY (IRE)), which was placed 2nd to view the Stewards patrol footage. C Soumillon decided to not proceed with an objection and as such correct weight was declared. Stewards issued Jockey J Doyle (SPOTIFY (FR)) with a reprimand under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i) for careless riding, in that over the final 50 metres, he permitted his mount to shift out whilst riding it along and in doing so carried RACING HISTORY (IRE) out off its rightful running line. Jockey J Doyle (SPOTIFY (FR)) was reprimanded under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(c)(i) for hitting his mount in front of the saddle whilst holding the whip in the forehand. Stewards took into account that this was J Doyle’s first breach of this Rule for the season.

Shortly after the start bumped heavily with another runner becoming unbalanced. Near the 1600 metres had to be eased when placed close to the heels of another runner. Had a tendency to hang left in the middle stages. Rider accidently dropped his whip near the 400 metres. Trainer Mr C Appleby was advised that prior to the filly being entered to race again, it must complete one satisfactory stalls test.
