SADDAD (FR) - (A de Vries): Began awkwardly. WAFI (FR) - (S Hitchcott): Near the 1400 metres eased off heels when over-racing. AF YAHAWA (FR) - (T O'Shea): Bumped on jumping. MARGHAM DUBAI (FR) - (W Lee): Slow to begin. Raced green when under pressure in the straight. SAKEEBA (FR) - (R Ffrench): Hung left under pressure in the straight. On return to scale rider reported that the filly hung left throughout. MUBASHERAT AL KHALEDIAH (SA) - (S Al Balushi): Slow to begin. General: Stewards allowed J Rosales to replace apprentice A McLean, who was unable to make the allotted weight on SAMSARAH D’AILLAS (FR), due to no other suitable rider being available. Stewards noted that Trainer Mr M Ramadan had erred in declaring A McLean on the filly without confirming he was able to make the weight.

The start of this race was delayed by approximately 3 minutes due to a late riding replacement taking place from race 2. RB HOT SAKI (US) - (O Doleuze): On jumping bumped by another runner. Near the 1500 metres shifted inwards away from another runner’s heels when over-racing. Rider reported that the mare had a tendency to lay outwards throughout SAARAH (FR) - (W Lee): Near the 1500 metres had to be steadied and shift outwards to avoid the heels of another runner. AF AL ARRAFAH (AE) - (T O'Shea): Near the 1500 metres was bumped by another runner and taken outwards. Raced wide without cover from the 1200 metres. AF NOQOUSH (AE) - (A Fresu): Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped by another runner. Passing the 1500 metres shifted out and hampered another runner. RAS ESINA (AE) - (P Cosgrave): Near the 1500 metres had to be restrained when tightened for room by another runner. General: Stewards inquired into the reason for RAS ESINA (AE)(P Cosgrave) having to be restrained near the 1500 metres. On the evidence and available footage it was established that approaching the 1500 metres RB HOT SAKI (US)(O Doleuze), which was bumped on jumping was ridden forward by its rider and commenced to over-race, having to shift inwards when placed close to the heels of AF NOQOUSH (AE)(A Fresu). This resulted in RAS ESINA (AE) which was racing to the inside of RB HOT SAKI (US) having to be restrained when tightened for room. Jockey O Doleuze was issued a reprimand under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i) for careless riding. Stewards inquired into the reason for SAARAH (FR)(W Lee) and AF AL ARRAFAH (AE)(T O’Shea) being interfered with passing the 1500 metres. On the evidence and available footage it was established that passing the 1500 metres AF NOQOUSH (AE)(A Fresu) shifted outwards quickly resulting in SAARAH (FR), which was racing to the mare’s outside having to be steadied and shift outwards bumping AF AL ARRAFAH (AE). Stewards noted the quick shift outwards by AF NOQOUSH (AE) and advised jockey A Fresu that he must do his upmost at keeping his mount straight in a similar situation.

Approaching the 400 metres was bumped and tightened for room. DAHHAM (FR) - (R Mullen): Fractious in the barriers, before undergoing a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Trainer Mr J de Roualle was advised that prior to entering the horse to race again, it must complete one satisfactory stalls test. SHAHEER (AE) - (T O'Shea): On jumping shifted out and bumped another runner. AMWAJ (FR) - (F Veron): On jumping the rider’s right side iron was dislodged, resulting in him riding iron-less for the entire race. MUNOWRA (FR) - (A Fresu): Began awkwardly. Checked off heels approaching the 400 metres. MH RAHAL (AE) - (C Beasley): Near the 600 metres checked when tightened for room. Held up for a short distance passing the 450 metres. General: Jockey S Mazur (JASER (FR)) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i) the particulars of the charge being that near the 600 metres he permitted his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of MH RAHAL (AE)(C Beasley), which had to be checked. S Mazur had his license to ride in races suspended for two race meetings (Meydan 31.01.2019 and Al Ain 1.02.2019). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account S Mazur’s good careless riding record. Stewards inquired into the reason for MUNOWRA (FR)(A Fresu) having to be checked and AL TIRYAQ (AE)(S Hitchcott) being tightened for room approaching the 400 metres. On the evidence and available footage it was established that approaching the 400 metres AL ZAHIR (FR)(J Crowley), which was under pressure and commencing to weaken, shifted out resulting in MUNOWRA (FR) having to be checked and AL TIRYAQ (AE) being bumped and tightened for room between AL ZAHIR (FR) and SHARAF AL REEF (AE)(G Avranche). Due to limited video footage and conflicting evidence, Stewards were not comfortably satisfied to issue a charge of careless riding against Jockey J Crowley, however issued a reprimand under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i).
