One - 2000 metres SHAHEER (AE) - (P Cosgrave): Commenced awkwardly. CHEIK ROQUE (FR) - (A Fresu): Fractious in the barriers prior to the start. Slow to begin. On return to scale the rider reported that after being slow to begin, the horse resented the kickback and failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be lame in the left fore-leg. Trainer Mr E Charpy was advised that prior to the horse being entered to race again he must provide a veterinary certificate of fitness for CHEIK ROQUE (FR). CHADDAD (GB) - (M Barzalona): Rider accidently dropped his whip near the 300 metres. ZIYADD (FR) - (R Mullen): Inclined to hang right in the middle stages. BF MUGHADER (OM) - (S Mazur): Slow to begin before being eased off the heels of another runner and lost ground as a result. Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. Lay right leaving the straight on the first occasion. Lay left under pressure from the 400 metres. GOSHAWKE (US) - (F Jara): Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. General: Jockey S Mazur (BF MUGHADER (OM)) pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(a) for using the whip to excess, in that he used it on 13 occasions. S Mazur’s license to ride in races was suspended for 1 race meeting (Meydan 9.3.19). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account that this was S Mazur’s fourth breach of the Rule this racing season.

The start of the race was delayed by approximately 4 minutes due to the late withdrawal of SALAYEL (GB). SHANTY STAR (USA) - (A Celik): Slow to begin. GOOD FORTUNE (GB) - (W Buick): Over-raced in the early stages. Raced wide without cover from the 800 metres. When questioned regarding the performance of the colt, the rider stated that after being slow to begin he settled further back in the field than he had intended and as a result on straightening he had to shift out wider on the track than he would have liked. He further added that GOOD FORTUNE (GB) responded fairly to his riding when placed under pressure in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. SPORTING CHANCE (GB) - (P Cosgrave): Over-raced in the early stages. MUTHHILA (IRE) - (M Barzalona): Over-raced in the early stages. Passing the 1200 metres shifted out and away from another runner when racing ungenerously. AL FAJIR MUKBILE (IRE) - (F Veron): Began awkwardly. TROLIUS (IRE) - (J Doyle): On return to scale the rider reported that when placed under pressure the gelding made a respiratory noise and commenced to give ground quickly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be mildly lame in the right fore-leg. GOLDEN JAGUAR (USA) - (C Beasley): Began awkwardly and lost ground. Over-raced in the early stages. Near the 1300 metres checked off the heels of another runner. Near the 1200 metres had to ease off the heels of another runner. Lay in from the 300 metres. SALAYEL (GB) - (O Dolueze): Unable to be loaded into the barrier. Acting on this advice from the Starter, Stewards ordered the late withdrawal of SALAYEL (GB) at 7:08pm. Trainer Mr N Bachalard was advised was advised that prior to entering the filly to race again, it must complete one satisfactory stalls test. General: Jockey A Celik (SHANTY STAR (USA)) was reprimanded under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(c)(vii) for using his whip in consecutive strides on 2 occasions. Stewards took into account that this was A Celik’s first breach of this Rule for the season. Stewards inquired into the reason for GOLDEN JAGUAR (USA)(C Beasley) being checked near the 1300 metres. On the evidence and available footage it was established that near the 1300 metres, when over-racing, GOLDEN JAGUAR (USA) had to be checked when placed close to the heels of TROLIUS (J Doyle), which had shifted in marginally when not sufficiently clear. Taking into account the racing manners of GOLDEN JAGUAR (USA), Stewards took no further action other than to advise J Doyle to exercise more care when shifting ground in similar circumstance.
